Who has compared Exedes speedtest with speedtest.net? What are your results? I compared them the other day and found the results way different.

Speedtest.net's speed tests don't give very accurate results on satellite internet providers. I always use testmy.net and find those results are very close. Make sure you choose the manual test with 12 MB size for best results. When the speeds come back low on testmy.net, I find that rebooting my wireless router will usually bring the speed back to normal.

Glad I saw this post. I've been getting results that differ greatly since upgrading to the Unlimited Silver 25 Mbps plan about 24 hours ago and doing a lot of testing. testmy.net is the only test so far that shows good speeds on my desktop (consistent with what seems to be the performance).

Fast.com shows about 3 on both desktop and iPhone, while Speedtest.net shows around 20 on the mobile (using their mobile app) but 3 on the desktop. Speakeasy gives error messages. Performance seems generally OK although sometimes the wait for a page to start loading seems longer than before getting on this plan.

Also, on my previous (12 Mbps) plan I often would see speeds up to 12 and above, but on 25 Mbps plans since getting the new modem/router, I've never seen more than 20 or 21, even in the wee hours (more a curiosity than a complaint).

Rebooting the router has had no effect for me in the various test results, but then again the performance/user experience seems fine.

I just ran these.  But I agree with Steve.  Speedtest.net is not very reliable.  I don't think they use a large enough file to do the test, results are very fast and different every time.  And I second the advice about rebooting WiFi router. That cured my slow speed a while back.

I second Steve's recommendation for testmy.net with the 12/2 manual test size.

We have to consider the latency inherent to a satellite connection plus the fact that it is going to have some "bursts" as compared to a ground based ISP's data stream.
