Where does the data go?

For two years I had metered internet through an AT&T cellular modem. My data usage over that period averaged 14 GB per month and never exceded 15 GB per month. Two months ago, I switched to Exede. In the first month, my 12 GB data allotment was exhausted after 10 days (a rate of 36 GB per month). I increased my data plan to 18 GB, and the 18 GB was exhausted after 6 days (a rate of 90 GB per month), Why has my data usage increased 2.5 to 6-fold when I have not changed my internet use habits in any way? There is something very fishy about the way Exede meters data usage.

Tough to say without knowing anything about your environment. It could be as simple as setting your Exede connection to metered mode depending on what device(s) and operating system(s) are being used.

P.S. You can go to https://myesvt.exede.net  and log in with your regular MyExede.net credentials and that will provide you with a categorized breakdown of how your data is being used and you might possibly correlate it to your usage habits... but that doesn't answer the more important questions of what and where. For that you'd need to install your own traffic monitoring application(s) which will vary dependent on your device(s) and operating system(s). Once you know what and where, there are some specific recommendations that can be made to eliminate unwanted traffic.
