What's your favorite 80's movie?

Ferris Bueller's day off is pretty much the greatest movie of all time, but I pretty much like anything written by John Hughes.

Agreed. And how many eventual academy award winning actors did this movie have? At LEAST 3 with Penn, Cage, and Whitaker.

I like all the movies listed so far, but my personal favorite from the 1980s is "The World According to Garp"

Blade Runner is a classic, and one of the best Sci-Fi movies ever.  I have the four disc "Final Cut" version.

The Empire Strikes Back is a great 80s Sci-Fi movie, as well.  Best of the series, IMHO.

GabeU, Did you see/like the Blade Runner sequel?  I wanted to go see it but didn't make it before it left the circuit.

Nope, I haven't seen it yet.  I'll watch it when it's on one of the pay movie channels on DirecTV.  From the sounds of it it's not quite as good as the original, but still fantastic, nonetheless, so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it.

I hated it. Waste of my time.

There is a reason a movie bombs with the fans even if the critics liked it.

The same thing happened with the original, which is now considered a masterpiece.

I thought ROTJ was the weakest of the original trilogy, but it was still good, and definitely better than anything from the prequel trilogy.  Then Lucas alters it years later and ticks a lot of people off, including me.

He's a pretty decent guy. I've met him a couple of times and he even signed one of my props from BTTF II.

If I remember right, he was in the Wing Commander series. I believe a former porn star also played a roll and so did Malcolm McDowell.

Boy. Those were some great games!

I owned an Oh La La magazine that was made for the movie.  Tom Wilson autographed it for me sometime around the year 2000.

I got lazy and forgot to put it up for sale in 2015.  It was in storage at a friends house, and unfortunately it was lost in the 2016 flood we had in Louisiana.

I paid $200 for it and the link below shows what one recently auctioned for.

https://propstoreauction.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/10/lot/1268/BACK-TO-THE-FUTURE-PART-II-1989-Pr...

Luckily, I also purchased a BTTF II Pizza Hut wrapper back in 2000.  I paid $100 for it, and sold it on eBay for $2,500 in 2015.

Yep.  Some movies are just too classic to be remade, and nearly every attempt turns out to be awful.  I've not seen the remake, and I won't.  A Nightmare On Elm Street is another good example.  Such a classic of 80s horror, and the remake was a joke.

Luckily I have never seen the Muppet Movie.

Wasn't a big fan of St. Elmo's Fire. That is Brat Pack stuff.

War Games is one of my all time favorites. Did you know there was actually a sequel??? Look it up! I believe the only thing from the original was the computer :).

And then there was Alley Sheedy. Brat Pack or not, any movie with her was worth it!

The first half of the movie is some of the powerful in cinematic history.

If the second half lived up to the first half, it would be right there with Dr. Strangelove and 2001.
