The plan you have might  be the "Classic 10" which gives10GB per month with a Midnight to 5AM "late night free zone" where no data is counted and even if you have used all your 10GB for the month, it still goes full speed during those hours.  If you have used all your 10GB for the month, during the non-late night free zone time, speed will be terribly slow until your data allotment is renewed to 10GB the night of your billing cycle day.

The 12GB plan is the so-called "Liberty Plan" which is deception at it's finest.  You'll get 12GB of "Priority Data" that you will use first and ALL data is metered all the time, no late night free zone. When you quickly run out of data you will be in what is falsely called the "Liberty Pass" mode where you are led to believe you will still get between 1 and 5 Mb/sec speed which YOU WILL NOT GET!  Your speed will  be dreadfully slow and you will join the ranks of those that come here to this forum to complain that they can't get a simple web page to load.  The speed in Liberty Pass mode is very similar to the speed you will now experience if you run out of data before the monthly cycle renews your allotment.  Thus I say the Liberty Plan is deception at it's finest.  With your 10GB plan, it is not only less money each month, you can postpone large downloads until after midnight and get full speed that does not count towards your data limit for the month.  If you run out of data you can still look forward to nightly full-speed with your 10GB plan.
I tell it like it is. Tomorrow morning this reply I made to you will probably be removed, it always is.

Craig's experience is regrettable but it is limited to a small percentage of Exede customers. Such experiences are usually due to either a bad installation or to a customer's not knowing how to manage their data and optimize the performance of their equipment.

I would look into how you're using your internet plan now. Are you on the Late Night Free Zone often? If so you might want to stay on the plan you have now until our ViaSat 2 launch (actual launch is March/April but plans will follow shortly). The Liberty Plan has no late night free zone. It does have Liberty Pass where if you use your 12GB of priority data you can continue to go online at a reduced speed between 1-5mbps outside of peak hours. This is on our Liberty plan overview but it's often overlooked and is where most of the complaints on the Liberty Pass stem from. In the mornings, afternoon and Late night you'll see the 1-5mbps in Liberty Pass. During Peak hours that speed can be below that range. http://www.exede.com/liberty/ So knowing the plan before switching is the best advice I can give as those classic plans are mostly retired and if that's the case in your beam you won't be able to switch back.

Now with that cautionary statement out of the way (a lot of customers seem to be fine with the plan like Jim suggested) , if you are doing fine on the 10GB plan you have now, you rarely if ever go on the late night free zone and don't usually go over your limit, the Liberty plan will probably work perfectly for you.

I have Liberty 12 plan and have had it for several years. I have NEVER used up the 12 gigs and have NEVER been in Liberty Pass. I'm on Facebook, I download TYD.  So I have always have had good luck with Liberty Plan.

i have had this plan for four years or so now and i go over pretty much every month, i endure the slower speeds and until yesterday it was the first time i have been denied access to a site i am on all the time. i waited until 1:30am should have been my free zone and still was denied access. my husband got on at 5am, so it is not the site that is having issues. but thanks everyone for your input.
