I was charged 6.99 for this and I don't know what it is for. Now they have canceled my card and are issuing a new card all because I can't find out what this is so I can call them.

Really, Barbara

It would help a lot if you could give a little more detail. You’ve sort of asked which way is up? It defends a lot on which way is down.

Who charged? Where did they charge? Your credit card? Why do you think it’s Viasat related?

"because I can't find out what this is so I can call them"

No, you call them to find out what that is.  Cancelling your credit card before finding out is a little extreme.  Could it be the property tax thing?

I'm really confused.

Is the RSI Services charged to your credit card statement?

Why do you believe the RSI charge is related to Exede/Viasat?

Yes it was  charged to my credit card and that's what it said. It was only for $6.99 but if I don't recognize what company it is, I want to know who is charging my card. I didn't know if it was related to Exede/Viasat. I have only been with them since Dec.8th and I called them and they said they didn't make the charge. I was trying to find out who made the charge. If I authorized it I would gladly pay for it but I know I didn't order anything at 2:48AM Dec.30th I had the company cancel my card and issue me a new one. Thanks for your input.

Since Google seems to come up with RSI being the mother corporation of Burger king, Barbara may have forgotten about that meal she bought at Burger King. From what she wrote in the OP, it appears that she is referring to a charge on her credit or debit card. Viasat charges are normally included in the  monthly bill, and not charged separately to the card on record.

No, I'm not confused. I called ViaSat and they said they didn't make the charge. I bought nothing else on my card.  The only other thing I did was get Hughes net first but I canceled that and went with ViaSat. I am going to call Hughes net and see if they made the charge because they are the only other company I gave my credit card information to. I had called Hughes net and told them that I was cancelling and going with Viasat because I heard they were better. They sent me a conformation notice that it was cancelled so I thought that was the end of that. I just want to pay for what I ordered and if I ordered something for $6.99 I want to pay for it. And it's not Burger King, thank you much!!

Hi Barbara

That does not sound like our charge at all. all of our charges will list as Viasat and I can not think of a single reason why a low charge like that would exist from us (even our pre-authorization fee is $60 and then you just get charged monthly bills and any odd one-off fees are on the bills). Chances are this might be a unknown place you may have used the card.

R.S.&I. used to be the supplier of Hughes net hardware to dealers and installers in the Midwest. May still be AFAIK. So, it probably had something to do with Hughes.

Barbara,

In 2016 there were 15.4 million victims of credit card fraud in the US.

You can buy hundreds of thousands of valid credit card numbers WITH NAMES on the internet for just chump change if you know where to look.

Most credit card fraud DOES NOT happen online or as a result of online transactions.

If you’ve called your card company and they say they can’t tell you what company charged your card it’s because the company that charged your card is foreign. Most likely it’s based in an African nation with loose or no banking regulations.

It’s INCREDIBLY unlikely that ANY company based in the US is responsible for the charge.

You’re just one of 15.4 million Americans who are victims of credit card fraud every year. Don’t think you’re special or the target of some criminal gang.

Drop this string into your favorite search engine for thousands of reliable sites with lots of information about credit card fraud.

Best wishes for a fraud free 2018!

I had a charge on my debit card from Amazon a few days ago for $10.99. I contacted Amazon and strangely enough, they didnt know anything about it. I then called my bank, canceled the card and ordered a new one.

That's exactly why I jiggle the card readers at the gas pump out of habit now!

Fortunately most of the time the bank is cool about it and helps you. I still do not carry cash but I'd agree with contacting your bank and asking about that charge to figure out where it came from.
