Well, account holder has died.. Unfortunately the place is loss as well.  I was wondering if ViaSat wants anything more than the Modem back? I need service up to next week, when I am forced out (place sold), but of course want to get them there stuff back too.

Call Viasat to initiate the cancellation process. They will need the modem and the receiver thing that is attached to the dish.

Viasat will send you a nice box with instructions and a prepaid label to send everything back. Make sure you save your receipt. Take pictures of what you put in the box.

Also, send an email to Viasatlistens@viasat.com explaining the situation. This is the corporate office. They might be able to help make things easier, should there be an early termination fee. Most accounts have an early termination fee if you don't keep the service for two years. The people at corporate are good people and can do more for you than the people you get when you call.

Yep, what Stephen said!

Though we cannot disconnect accounts, as legal disclosures must be read, and we are not a part of the call center.  But we can make sure everything is moving smoothly!

TheName mentions that they are out of the 24-month agreement, so there will be no disconnection fee.  The only fees that could be incurred would be fore failing to return the equipment.

We had it for way over 2 years. I'd rather not get the internet , or DISHNetwork , terminated before next weekend when I got to leave.

Normally they will send you a pre-paid box to pack and ship the modem and Tria back to them...also, normally, cancellations require the customer to pay $15.00 per month for any months left on their 2 year contract, if 2 years have not passed ...you can probably get that waived due to the death of the account holder...when you call them to cancel service just ask them,,,

Frontline Care will not prorate your final month.  It's in the disclosures read during disconnection.  Once you've disconnected, email us. ViasatListens@viasat.com

Im not trying to start a bunch of drama, but the original poster never agreed to any disclosures. They are trying to do the right thing, even returning equipment that they had nothing to do with. Sounds like a good honest person to me. Otherwise, Viasat would be trying to collect from a deceased person.

Oh, I totally agree.  But frontline can only do what they are allowed to do.  We (Diana Brad and I) have the ability to do more.

I was wondering, since my brother's location is out in the sticks, I can't just take over Dad's account Friday can I?  And setup a dish move ?  It will have to be totally terminated ? WITHIOUT a contract.

Also: They aint getting another 64ish, cause there is no over draft available in my checking and I don't have another $64ish this month.

just get the box and return the gear, let corp worry about closing out the account. start your own new account after you have moved.

It would probably be in your best interest to close this account and to wait until you have $64 a month to pay for a new account.

You could just get a prepaid hotspot if you have cell phone coverage at your brother's house.

Just got my latest Hughesnet propaganda.

They offer 10 and 20GB "unlmited" with a "free zone" of 50GB.

And people think Hughesnet is better. Lol

I was getting Hughesnet garbage in the mail everry few days for a while. I think it's been at least a week since the last mailer.

Has anyone heard from Fred G Sanford? He switched to Hughesnet a few weeks ago.

TheName141,

Doing a move essentially creates a new account, that's attached to an old one.  So I don't think it'd be worth it to do that.
