What does the red light on my modem indicate?

The modem always seems to disconnect at some point during the late evening, reboot itself after a few minutes without needing any help from us, and go on. However, the last day or so, the light ring has been red continuously. Our service still works fine, but the modem's manual only indicates that red means "some action needs to be taken."

Hi Nicollete,  I also have been noticing this, has happened at least four times since the wifi modem was first available this year.  I also notice the light under the red circle that shows an envelope.  I too had full connectivity  but had to unplug to reboot modem.  I've asked techs at exede before, no one has an answer, says modem too new????  Anyway, if anyone knows what the modem is trying to tell us, we would be interested in finding out what triggers the color change and the envelope icon.

My router/modem does not disconnect. But the red light & white envelope just came on today. It's about 1 1/2 months old. I still have the same speeds and it stays connected.

I will reboot it later unless I get answers here...

Jim,

I have that Manual. But my Modem is still connected. Is this one of those "if it still works, don't fix it???".

I never set up any Exede Email. Do you think this is why it stays solid red and the white envelope light is on?

Before I shut down tonight I will reboot it and see what happens...

At midnight last night my Modem reset itself. It's been a solid blue light so far. Maybe some kind of update going on???
