we have only had our internet a week tomorrow and we used almost all of our data. What can we do to not eat up our data so quickly

we purchased the 10 g program and were told that that amount would be plenty for what we are using it for, to my surprise and dismay we have used almost all of our allow data in 6 days. We are new to this is there something we are doing wrong?
we only use our data on emails and streaming tv and movie should we ahead a purchase a larger package, and if so what would you suggest.

Streaming movies and tv on your Exede internet will use as much as 2 GB of data per hour. This is something that should be done with caution. I don't know what plan you are on, but if you can get the Liberty Plan in your area, you will still be able to use your internet even after you use up your Priority data, although it will be at speeds in the 1 to 5 Mbps range. It will take you some time to learn some of the other tricks that satellite internet users have to minimize some of the unnecessary data consumption. Have had the service for over a year.  Still have issues with attempting to use the service and always run out well before our month is up.  Perform basic surfing, FB, and emails.  Get out while you can!  Very frustrated with this ISP.

Additionally, we have the 20GB plan, so it doesn't help to increase if you are streaming a lot of video.  Unless you are independently wealthy and can afford their rate plans.

Oh don't worry!! We use ours in 5-6 days and can't tell a difference. It's just as slow all month and Nerflix works fine.

I started with similar issues on my LTE data plan (I'm considering satellite as a backup). Video streaming is clearly an issue. It will help to focus on SD or low-resolution streams as much as possible.

My particular problem had to do with video ads. They are embedded in many websites and can eat data almost as quickly as Netflix. I started using an ad blocker and Flash stopper extensions to keep my data use under control.
