Was internet service down Sunday evening?

Lost Internet and phone service Sunday evening (10/14/18 11:30pm Pacific) - came up and went back down a few times so I gave up and went to bed. Eight hours later, working great - better than last week, and then I had to re-log into the iPhone app for the first time in more than a month.

Timing and behavior points to a major planned or unplanned outage - someone knows what went on but is anyone willing to admit to it in public?

And is there any place where we can see status of the over all system, other than the red and blue lights on top of our own modems? I've looked and can't find any place.

Michael,

It looks like there were some weather related outages on Sunday affecting several areas.  I don't know if your issue was related to them or not, without knowing your location.

Thanks, Matt. I'm in San Diego County, in Southern California. Clear - I looked for weather, but I could see stars - and dry here that night.

Ok, that'll help narrow it down.  I'm tracking down info on that area.

Remember with satellite, weather issues can affect your location as well as the gateway that receives the satellite signal on our side.  You could have beautiful blue skies, but the gateway serving your beam, located in, say, Denver, could be dealing with a major thunderstorm, blotting out the sky.

So, not 100% that it was your issue, but yeah, there was a weather outage in Southern California on Sunday night/Monday early morning.  I'm not sure when it started, but it looks to have been resolved around 3 a.m. your time.
