I am looking for documentation for the Viasat Wifi Gateway Configuration guide. I have been reading the previous threads.

There was a posting on the with this email, viasatalistens@viasat.com.. I just tried to send an email and I got an error that the email address could not be found.

Trying to read up on the configuration, however the link brings me to a website that is down.

Can somebody provide me all the above Information?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Steve, I have an existing ASUS wireless system at home. All of my home automation is connected to that current wireless network.

I am looking to convert the Viasat WiFi gateway to just a modem. I can then feed the output from the gateway to my ASUS wireless network and my current wireless network connected to my home automation should get back up?

I was looking viasat documentation that will assist me for the configuration listed above.

Kindly let me know if I am unclear. Thanks

Read the post on no IP address. It was posted a few minutes ago. It will show you that you need to put Viasat modem on bridge mode. Make sure your Ethernet cable is plugged into the left port, as the right port is disabled on bridge mode. Make sure you cycle the power after you make the changes in Viasat modem

Hi All,

I would like to provide an update. I have successfully switch my Viasat Wifi Gateway to Bridge mode. The output of the Gateway, I managed to plug into the home network and everything works as normal.

I am getting good download speeds of up to 53mpbs and upload of 4mbps.

My next question is on port forwarding. Does anybody have experience in that?

Since you've placed your Viasat Wifi Gateway in bridge mode, it's functioning only as a modem not a router. Port forwarding is a router function.

Any detailed instructions on how to do it would be unique to whatever router you've now connected to your WiFi Gateway. Identify the vendor model and number, as well as what you're trying to accomplish.

Alternately portforward.com, provides guidelines for nearly ever router make and model number and a number of typical applications of port forwarding. However, I don't recommend the product their hawking over there - just the info that can be gleaned.

Just saw where you previously mentioned Asus so: portforward.com/asus
