I tried ordering the Voice Phone service & was told it's not available in my area?? 81252.
I'm in the sticks so cell service is very hit & miss, I'm using googlevoice voip via an Obihai 2 adapter in between my modem & wi/fi router so it gets priority, but when Viasat gets busy it doesn't work...

Do you have any cellular signal in your area? Such as Verizon? You could get something like: https://shop.straighttalk.com/shop/en/straighttalk/homephones which is cheaper and more reliable than viasat voice.

I don't have time to research much now, but I looked up the zip code and it looks like ATT has decent coverage there, but I know it isn't everywhere. They also have reasonable wireless home phone and internet packages. Also, some prepaid carriers activate on them (including Straight Talk, you just need a compatible phone and the Straight Talk ATT sim). Of course if you're far from a tower or terrain limits the signal, then it won't work, and you probably would know if it did. But a cell signal booster may help in some situations as well (which any people I know, including myself, have).

Two possibilities for you

1 Get an Ooma, I pay $5/month
2 If you have a higher end phone, you can enable Wifi Calling in your phone which lets your cell phone thru internet

I'm currently running an Obihai-202 voip box & google voice for a voip service it's free for service, but if Viasat gets congested it kills the quality to unusable, can't call out or receive calls, when Viasat isn't busy it works great!

Ahhhh, Viasat's own service won't work any better.

Likely why they are not selling in your beam

Sean Schmidt - "I tried ordering the Voice Phone service"

I believe one is on an Exede-5 satellite, not Exede-12 (VS-1), which explains the congestion issue.

This topic might have some tips on fine tuning: Wi-Fi calling

If someone you know has a cellphone with WiFi, one might try this and see what happens.  Viasat's equipment knows what's in those packets being sent, and a higher priority might be possible.

You live in a nice location....been there once....in summer.
