My exude ViaSat modem keeps going into a sleep/standby mode when the computer goes to sleep. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? I often use my tablet or phone via Wifi and cannot do so when the modem goes into this mode. Thanks

The Viasat Surfbeam2 modem does not have a sleep mode. I suspect your router or LAN is the thing that is causing your connection problems.

Hello s1mp13m4n, your modem should not have a sleep or a “standby” mode. If your modem does such, or is resetting itself then there may be some internal issues with your modem that need to be reviewed. Please feel free to send your account and contact info to Thank you

I figured out that if I keep the computer active but let the screen go out the modem stays active.  If the computer goes to sleep then the modem cuts off.  I have even unplugged my router and it does the same thing.

The Exede modem doesn't have a sleep mode and has no way of knowing whether your computer is sleeping or not. The Exede modem has nothing to do with your problem.

Do you have everything plunged into the same surge strip or is the modem plugged into the wall directly? I ask because I think some surge strips in the past had a master outlet and when the device on that outlet was off it turned the rest of the outlets off. It was their way of marketing them as energy saving.
