Viasat I'm giving you until April 2019 if you don't fix this. I'll have no other choice but to spill some beans otherwise. Heed my warnings!

As the title of this topic subject says. I'm giving Viasat company until April of 2019 to fix there problems and the Network Policy's. If I do not see anything before April of 2019 Then I will be gladly cancel my services. (So in April 2019 I will be disconnected my services and send the stuff back. So I can use my Jetpack I found long time ago that I got few years ago.) So if Viasat doesn't get this sorted out by April of 2019 and I will cancel services in April 2019 and do the process of shipping stuff back and so on.

Viasat, You'd better heed my warnings as of right now. I will be the one to spill the beans on you guys. If you don't think I'm going to. Then so be it. But I'm giving you guy's a chance to fix your wrongs and I know this company can do good. But you better heed my warnings Viasat! Don't ever underestimate me! I mean it Viasat! I don't want to do this to you. But I will have no other choice but to do it. GOOD DAY!

P.S. Oh yeah. I forgot to say this. Maybe I'll save it for another time.

Because when you signed up to the community on January 20, 2109 - you didn't turn off the default email notifications.

You can opt out by going to your profile and changing your email notification preferences.

With that we have now achieved full meltdown... red alert!

Also I thought Viasat was doing some type of sweepstakes of the $100 off of your next months bill. I don't see no announcement of who the winner was. So basically, Viasat has lied to everyone. I don't even want to win that $100 off of my monthly bill. (Cause State of Iowa wants City of you live and stuff to be published. I don't want my city to be published at all. So I'd rather not take that whatever sweepstakes they where offering.)

Hi Deku, Please email us at browser@viasat.com with some background on the issue to which you are referring.

Also, note that the sweepstakes started at the beginning of the month and goes to the end of the month.  Once the month ends, we will be randomly selecting a winner from the pool of Viasat Browser users.

Thanks!

Oh so now you guy's were actually and original wanted the giveaway to start in January? I thought you said the winner was going to be announced in January of 2019. If I some how misunderstood you. Then maybe you guy's need too work on getting to the facts and not mixing up words together to lure customers into the traps you guy's have lead them into. It's basically we are the rabbits. We go into the cage and therefore we are basically wanting a carrot to nibble on. So we take the carrot and we keep coming back for more. That is how you guy's get people into the sweepstakes and so on. It's cause you guy's dont get straight to the point and how it is done and so on. But yet, I see were this is going. I see how y'all guy's get us rabbits into the cage and carrots and so on.

I have been away for awhile. If Deku has turned against Viast then something bad must have happened. She has been one of Viasat's biggest supporters, right up there with Stephen Rice and Jim16. Speaking of Jim16, is he and Judge and Jury still kicking? Have not seen anything from them in a long time.

Yep, I have a feeling it's the new data management policy. If that's it, I agree, it isn't fair to us long time customers to effectively be prevented from doing anything beyond email and forums during prime time if we still SUPPOSEDLY have priority data remaining but, no, we can't do that because we are on the big 150 GB plans that don't exist any more. We get depriortized even if we have data remaining so, prime time now means no streaming, no music, just forums and email because speeds are often under 1 Mbps simply because we have an older plan and refuse to switch to a plan that offers slower speed and less data fr the same or more than we are paying now.

As you can see, Ivan, the natives have become restless in your absence.

FWIW, the Angry Mob Fun Run started on January 15 with some policy changes over on legal:

https://www.exede.com/legal/

Specifically the 3 documents that changed on that date.

Tch... There is a reason why I haven't been praise Viasat at all. Nor do I come on here anymore.

Not only did I not come on here hardly. I've been observering of how people where treated. Ect. Ect. Ect. There is always a reason behind everything I do.

Ya know what? I honestly think Viasat is so funny that I'm actually laughing at them as I type. HAHAHAHAHA!!!

I knew Karma was going to bite Viasat in the rear end. It always seems to happen when I always have encounters with companies and friends. Karma is coming after Viasat now! HAHAHAHAHA! THIS IS TOO FRICKING FUNNY! Keep it up Viasat! Who knows what else karma has in store for you! HAHAHAHAHA! WAY TO FUNNY!

What irony!
I used to be a Viasat cynic until I took the advice of various people on this forum and invested in data management tools. Now I am quite satisfied with Viasat. I usually have about 4 gb left over monthly on my 12 gb Liberty 12 plan. I have no need to stream and have enough Netflix/Playon entertainment to keep me happy. The $50/month fee seems ok to me.
On the other hand, it appears some of the vocal staunch Viasat defenders have either jumped ship or are threatening to jump ship.
Given enough time, water eventually will seek its own level.

Pffft.. Who say's I was going to go overboard and just leave. I'm just stating facts to be honest. I'm just saying if Viasat doesn't fix this at all and I'm giving them a chance. If not I'm leaving them then I have not only this. But I also have something up my sleeve for Viasat. It's only if Viasat doesn't want to fix it themselves.

I am on beam 328. It could be that this beam has been relieved due to people leaving for Viasat 2 or for other options. Moderators, do you have access to this data and can you comment on the congestion trend for beam 328?

Moderators -- Can you provide me with the data for the number of subscribers to beam 328 as a function of time? For instance, How many subscribers to beam 328 now? Last month? Six months ago? One year ago?
Thank you.

As I sit here reading these posts on my mobile phone even though my supposed unlimited plan just renewed just the other day and I can nearly browse internet and streaming is impossible, I found a solution....I'm also streaming from my Verizon Wireless Mobile Hotspot....no issues at all...oh yes....viasat....shortly I'll be giving you the old heavhoe and using hotspot permanently because it's cheaper and better quality service...as for your 24 month lock in once I discontinue the payment debit card you use to collect my money and you screwed try to collect the 15 month fee for early termination..

Alright all I have to say is this. I'm going through alot of stuff in my life right now. I have to see a neurologist this afternoon to see if I really do have Tourette Syndrome or not. I haven't been able to fricking sleep this entire fricking month! I've been way to stressed out. Also some other stuff which I can't go into details. (Due to my Big Sister wants to make sure everything is aok and it doesn't get from bad to worse then Poof!) I've also experienced a fake friend just 2 week's ago. Its basically all in one entire FRICKING MONTH I HAD HARDLY ANY FRICKING SLEEP!

Now can you see and understand why my fricking speeds are so FRICKING SLOW! ITS CAUSE I'VE BEEN SO STRESSED OUT! I NEED TO GET AWAY FROM REALITY AND GO INTO MY ANIME AND MANGA WORLD BUT I CAN'T DO ANYTHING DUE TO THIS FRICKING NETWORK POLICY!

Well... Seems like I really want to stay now. Since I've been wanting to rival Steven for quite some time now. Did someone say there own personal beam? hmmm... maybe I did jump the gun a little too high.

@Steven Rice!!!

I CONSIDER YOU AS MY RIVAL ONTO THE SPEED TESTS ONTO THE VIASATS BEAMS WE ARE LOCATED AT!!! I CHALLENGE YOU TO A SPEEDTEST 1 ON 1!!! This is between you and me. Your plan vs my plan. To see which one is the best one with the magic beam. DO YOU ACCEPT THIS RIVALRY AND BATTLE!?!?!? :3

but... If Steven doesn't want to accept. Then I totally understand him for not wanting to be my rivalry. So I'll just do it myself. :3

We understand this policy change has caused some frustration. Viasat has updated our Network Management Policy to ensure the best experience for all of our customers on the network. Not all plans are affected and we are notifying customers via email or direct mail. If you have questions, email us at ViasatListens@viasat.com or call 844-715-4412  and our team of specialists will be happy to help.

I am totally confused but that is not unusual for me when it comes to any of this stuff. What is going on? I haven't really noticed any change and wouldn't have been aware that there was some sort of change if I had not seen this post. I am on Evolution, just checked and have only used 0.8% of 10 GB with 19 days to go. That seems about normal for us. Has a change already taken place or is it upcoming? Thanks~

You would not be impacted on an Evolution plan - in fact you might be doing even better speed wise. It only impacts Unlimited 150 GB and Freedom plans on Viasat-1.

We didn't think it would happen to us now after 10 years.  I understand you are not in the decision mix.  This company is not only unethical, but clearly makes hurtful, if not impossible changes to existing plans that heavily impacts older clients.  You are not willing at this time to make this right, your "options" clearly state,  pay more for a new plan with less data, stay where you are and be so heavily throttled that is becomes unusable in the evenings, or leave.  This is the way you lose customers and we won't go quietly, as you can see by forum comments.  My real estate agent could not get documents sent for days via your plan change, also on Freedom.  He had to DRIVE to get signatures on documents.  You manipulated Freedom plan to make us as miserable as possible.  You are succeeding .  We are miserable.

I'm really sorry Susan. I understand the frustration and don't like seeing someone long term like you unhappy. I along with my team are the one's "taking the pulse" so we're reporting it. Ultimately it was done to better the network for a larger portion of customers but I understand the situation you're in.  At this time unfortunately the options you stated are our options over this. We're offering to let you stay on your older plan if you want to keep the data and ride it out a little bit you're able to do so, there's no timetable on having to definitively take a course of action on your part. The other plans are not facing this but plans are determined by zip code so the price and availability/options of plans vary. Finally as this was enacted on our end we are offering to waive cancellation fees on those affected accounts.

Hughesnet did something similar to me years ago. They basically made my grandfathered plan unusable to the point I had no choice but to cancel or switch plans.

It is very difficult to see people struggling with their existing plans while others on here brag about getting more than their plan even entitles them to. That is a slap in the face and NOT right. Strike a balance so that everybody shares the pain.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few

I received my email from ViaSat today. Slow internet must have delayed its arrival. Interesting that the email suggests I could switch to ViaSat 2 plans when they were never offered in my area. My options were to accept the changes as written or switch to ViaSat 2 plans. If they were available at all, why were they never offered at my address?

This is the biggest mess both publicity wise and business plan wise I’ve ever seen. I have always dealt with slow evening speeds. Now I deal with worthless internet speeds though I pay a large chunk of change every month. I’m offered alternatives that don’t exist to pacify me?

Craziness. I’ll be canceling by the end of March and look forward to the demise of a company that turned so anti consumer so quickly. May 5g eat your lunch, and low orbit earth satellites pick up the crumbs you thought you had with military and airline contracts.

Amazing how VIASAT has the nerve to try to up sell unhappy customers. Every time I called with a problem they tried to sell me easy care or whatever it was. They are worse than pathetic and have no morals. I would love to see them go bankrupt, that would be what they deserve.

I got the email today as well. Staying put for now and waiting too see if I notice any changes in my service. 5G won't ever come to my neck of the woods, but I'm holding out hope for low orbit satellites to offer something else one day.

They will eventually rule the internet service world, but we are probably a few years away. Interestingly enough, a local company is building a fixed wireless network offering speeds of 100/10. That will be sufficient for me when I build a new house (best service available there). By the time I need more, 5g or low orbits will be in place. It will happen one way or another.

I’ve been a satellite customer over 10 years. I think 12 years but can’t find my original contract.

I’m not sure that cellular will move fast enough in spotty areas. Low orbit is all you have to look forward to if steadfast on staying put. My parents have quality internet and never use it. Most people don’t want to live that way. You have minimum two years before you’ll see anything most likely. Sad really.

If I had to guess I’d say 2003 making it 15 years, but I know I had it in 2006.

Cell service is spotty for me even with a signal booster. No 4G but I can get 1Mbps 3G speeds on a good day. In summer, when the leaves are out, forget it.

We shall see how my Verizon Hotspot works when the leaves come out. I honestly never noticed a difference in cell service during seasons and my area is heavily wooded. The only thing I notice effecting cell service was heavy thunderstorms. During lightning strikes there was momentary silence.

I'd be skeered to put much faith in Verizon.  They introduced me to the Unlimited plan on the fastest 4G LTE network, only to find for hotspots it was 3G after 11 Gig.   At least there is no 24 mo commitment, which means Terms of Service can change at their whim.   It does seem to be working very well right now.

What plan did you get from Verizon Harvey? Prepaid unlimited is all 4g lte there is no 3g lte on this plan. I have used over 1tb of data on my plan and not been cut back any.

It was the unlimited shared data plan for 2 cells and MiFi Home.  I switched to it just as soon as Unlimited came out and it was a hard 11 Gig limit, that is cut back as soon as you hit the 11 Gig which suddenly became 600 kbps.  Horrible.  Meanwhile the cell phones had a limit of 22 Gig data before throttling.  Go figure.

Got my letter, bye,bye Viacrap.

from the Bandwidth Usage Policy:
"The Viasat Bandwidth Usage Policy is designed to ensure that Freedom Plan
subscribers receive the full benefit of their service plan."

From the Network Management Policy:
"Network traffic may be prioritized during periods of congestion based
on subscribers’ data usage or potential data usage."

Can you say oxymoron?

Makes sense to lawyers, and I’m sure would withstand a legal challenge. To all of us dumb hillbilly’s, it’s as dumb as it sounds.

I actually believe I could get on 2 with some weird Gold plan that offers 30Mbps.

But I am not going to pay more money to this company for that.

There is always Hughesnet. Again, get do that out of spite.

What's the deal with satellite internet....

Might be interesting to call and see which one. Customer service has always been top notch right?

Never really saw that many complaints about 2. Would have switched last year even if it meant paying an early termination fee. Money was never the problem. Just lack of options.

Those in high density spot beams have it great. Unfortunately, those beams are rare as diamonds.

Is the Unlimited Gold 30 plan on Viasat 2? That's one of the plans I can downgrade to, but it's $150 per month. Less data for more money than my Freedom plan.

Long term, the new policies will have a positive effect for those of us that stay around on our grandfathered plans. As people get mad and leave, more bandwidth will open up.

I believe that is a fragment of a high density spot beam. It cant do 50 or 100, but it can do 30.

Nothing on Viasat-1 is advertised as above 25. I believe it has to be 2, but without a full functioning beam (as intended).

Stephen, that's one way to look at it. You're being quite optimistic.

Will not the nonstop viasat commercials/posters  keep reeling people in then hooking then with a 4 yr contract faster than others leave ? *Shrug*

Called churn.

That is why Viasat's customer base has remained stagnant and they dont want to report subscriber numbers anymore. They just want to report revenue/sub. Why? Driving people to higher priced plans increases this measureable.

Not sure how great that is for a long term strategy, but works short term.

I got a letter in the mail about the policy change asking me to change plans or i can cancel service at no charge. I had been thinking about changing plans for awhile so i go ok ill change plans well guess what i find out..... Not only can i not change plans apparently because there's nothing available to upgrade to. Then i check the main site and do a search for my area and apparently they stopped service in my area due to overly high demand. SO i am just screwed. im on the 30mbps 150gig unlimited data plan. I mean what happened to the whole viasat 2 thing being better and offered everywhere thing? Not to mention the whole congestion will get better when viasat 2 gets here. What happened to that promise?

Why had you been contemplating a plan change prior to the email?

I've had the email since December and am on Freedom, priority 25 mbps, 150 GB.  They have throttled me heavily evenings between 6 and 10.  I'm staying put on viasat 1 as I have no other options at this time because I refuse to get hammered into a plan because they want to make more money off me.  My speed is what it is, Hughes net is not better.  They really are abusing existing customers.  Maybe viasat 1 will have more people going to viasat 2, but, with time, they will do the same thing to them. There is no end in sight with them.  I know your anger and frustration.

Not sure Stephen. Really don’t hear too many complaints about ViaSat 2. Plans aren’t impressive, but for a while there were some nice reports on here of decent service. Now they are pushing people onto ViaSat 2, so it can’t be that bad, right?

Curious about Deku’s beans though....

Price is what kept me on the fence not to mention i was happy with my service i had no reason to change at the time. But now they are forcing me to have to go to another plan by making my service horrible basically. i literally got this letter in the mail about a week ago. At first i did not see a change so i figured they just reworded the policy and was showing that to me. But no the service has become horrible even with priority data. now its more or less i might as well hammer the data i'm given because its going to be just as slow as it is when i go over it.

Have you called to see what plans they would offer you? Probably even if none are listed they would offer you something. Be interesting to know.
