Love this blog on Viasat 2!! I'm so curious about it, thanks for keeping us all updated. I am on the Freedom plan and LOVE it so as you can imagine can't wait to get on Viasat 2! Also, your new text service where you can reboot your modem and check data is amazing. Thank for always getting better, I don't mind giving my money to a company that works like that. Thanks again.

ccar, if you are having problems with your Exede internet service, please explain just what is making you unhappy.

I would just like to say that your comment doesn't make much sense otherwise. Exede has well over 650,000 subscribers. Those having problems or unhappy will post on here, but the number is only a very small percentage of those subscribers. Subscribers who are happy with their service don't normally post on these forums until they are having a problem.

This forum is here to bring up any problems, and several of us are here to try to help resolve those problems, if we can, and if not we will ask you to email or call Exede Customer Service to get further help.

Many of us have been using satellite internet for many years, and have had our problems along the way.

Just curious ccar, how many times have you posted a product review for each of the many products you have in your home, just to say how great the product is? Again, reading reviews of most things I have been interested in buying seem to have a large percentage of negative reviews, with a smaller number of great reviews.

I do encourage you to expand on why you think Exede is not satisfying your expectations.

I'm hear to complain about what most of the customers are complaining about. SLOW SLOW internet and next to no service. All i do is check mail and access web pages. I had 7G this morning and can barely get online because the speeds are so slow, and NOW i get an email from exede telling me I used all my data. It's a joke. How is that possible that I used up 3 G's today when I can barely get online?

I wouldn't say most of the customers. I know and understand the limitations of satellite internet in general. Hughesnet has the same issues and limitations. I suppose uf you can get one of those "unlimited" wireless plans you might be happier. But then, you will get slowed on them when you use about 20GB's.

There might be reasons why you are using so much data and you don't even realize it. Have you contacted Viasat to take a closer look at your account? Maybe you need a service call.

Jeff. Good to hear your positive feedback. I've been in business since 1984, yes...I'm old, and have dealt with a bunch of companies and I can say hands down that Exede (Viasat) is the most fair and decent company I have ever dealt with. They are the FIRST company that has EVER listened to their dealers.
Back in 2015 I was asked to join the Dealer Advisory Council and attended my first meeting in June of that year. I and 6 other dealers were sitting there with the heads of each dept and they listened to everything I had to say. Several dealer issues were fixed within 2 weeks of that meeting. At that meeting I mentioned the advice we gave our customers on how to save data (the ones I mentioned on the other thread), they got the info from me and posted it on their site very quickly and even made some videos they put up on Youtube. The meetings are time consuming and take me away from my business 4 days each time but I wouldn't miss them for anything.

Viasat 2 is not in it's final orbit yet, it's working on getting there, then, it will need to be tested before it can provide service to us. If all goes well, it will be in service sometime early next year.

There are many happy and satisfied customers both residential and corporate.  But since these people have nothing to complain about 99% of them or more will never find their way here to tell you about it.  It's only the rest of us geeks and oddballs that while understanding the limitations of satellite Internet we like to share how well it does.

I've been both on Hughesnet as well as Viasat and Exede is much better overall than [at least the older] Hughesnet and I was satisfied with Hughes.  When I found this forum before I got the service I wasn't put off with all the negative talk because I know how it works.  Many here either don't understand the limitation of satellite after having a cable modem or fiber nor do they understand where all their data is going as they were oblivious to it under a more generous ISP setup.

It's amazing how much the windows operating system sucks up with the every day updates because of the holes in the system as well as all the various microsoft applications like Office that does automatic updates because of the holes in that as well.  Just about every Microsoft application is updating all the time as well as other pieces of software on your system that is set to update automatically.

I look forward to the new satellite coming into service whether or not I port over to that one.  If I stay on this one the congestion should ease as some subscribers move over and Exede begins to take some off the existing satellite.  In time it will get better.  Some customers of course do have legitimate problems and Exede is willing to help you but you have to jump thru some of their hoops.  I despise the first level of customer service/technical support when people are reading off a script and I probably know more about the system than they do but it is what it is.

This is the part I like:
including demonstrating downstream speeds of over 100 Mbps to production consumer terminals
Did I read that right.....  "consumer terminals"  ???    Hey, that's us !

The new satellite will still have speeds and plans based on location so as before location will play a role but with 2 satellites handling the job I would think as we roll out new and exciting things will start to appear much like how we saw classic plans go to Liberty to Freedom to Unlimited.
