Just bought 1 gb of data (for the 3rd time this month), did a speed test and it says i am 89% slower than most excede customers. my download speed is 948kbps and my upload speed is 895kpbs. This doesn't seem right. I am definatly not getting what I'm paying for. Seems like the last few months my speed has slowed down a lot, I understand when I use up the date its going to, but when I'm buying more, it should speed back up. I've had the same box from Wildblue for serveral years, could that be the problem?  We have to reset it a lot.

Have the speeds always been slow or is this a new symptom? Any other changes recently?

no they haven't always been this slow, this is a new thing, been happening for the last couple of months.  we've had this service for several years.  this is the first time it's been this slow, seems like it normally isn't this slow even when we run out of data

You might have a problem...Your connection scored only 13% of the Wildblue Communications average (87% slower). This does not always mean that you're in bad shape. If the Internet package you subscribe to is slower than most people using your ISP you'll see this message.

Here's my test at12:38 am when the data is free, I am near Okc, but it's showing Dallas.  I'm going to contact customer service, something is definately wrong somewhere, shouldn't be this slow.  My pc is new, so I don't think that's the issue either, so is the wifi router.  It's the third one we've had to buy in the last 2 years, the other went out and wouldn't power on.  Not sure if that could be caused by the satellite router.

Tonya What internet service have yhou got-Wildblue or Exede? When I went from Wildblue to Exede I had to have a different modem. They said the Wildblue one would not work with Exede. Exede modem has one cable plug in and Wildblue had 2. So they just moved the one cable plug in out of the way and put the other plug in  into Exede modem.

I'm at my wits end with the p.m. slowdown.  It's been really bad the last week or so.  I can't even stream video anymore.  Satellite internet is my only option, but I'm not going to keep paying for a service I can't use.

Hello Theresa, I’m sorry to hear about your pm slow speeds. You may possibly be experience some congestion around what we call “peak hours”, typically due to the amount of users online simultaneously. These times are usually between 4pm to 8pm. Please feel free to send your account and contact information to exedelistens@viasat.com I would be glad to take a look at your account for you.

Generally the speed is acceptable, however there are times when the speed is excruciatingly slow.
All services are affected by usage so they will slow down also, but when Satellite, which is already slow, slows down it is unbearable.

Since i work/teach from home i just log off, and fire up my Verizon iPhone hot spot.

I use this when the speed is slow and to use some of my 10 Gig of Verizon data.  A good back up and alternative to buying extra excede data.

If you think our speeds are slow, look in to the down-link speed of New Horizons. I was just looking at data from NASA's deep space network and it's downloading at about 2kb/s. So be grateful for what we do have thanks to ViaSat. They are saying that it will be late 2016 before they receive all the data from New Horizon.
