Guess it's a good thing I have money in the bank just waiting in case Viasat wants some. Every other company  gives you a few days to a week notice, this used to be " your account was charged today" now they are a day behind! Sloppy business practices, from a poorly run business.

Not sure I get your issue.  You agreed to have the monthly fee taken out on the same day of the month and the same amount on the same day of the month for the life of your service.  The amount doesn't change.  You want them to send you pink roses with that?  My gosh, now people are bitch'en about an email notice letting them know what they already agreed to and already know.  This is getting insane.

Re-read my post.  The real issue here is why don't you know that you are billed at the same date and same amount every month?  Is there a contest out that whoever comes up with the most insane complaint about Viasat wins a subscription to "Shari's Berries"?  'Cus your in the running. ( along with a couple dozen others)

"come on play nice".
I'll play nice when insignificant "cruft" like this stops.  It seems it's becoming a sport to dump on Viasat even if it isn't warranted. This "help" forum has turned into a bunch of drive by shooters looking for anything to ding this company. Seriously, we all know when they take the payment.  All of us.  Everyone.  We all agreed to it.  We all set it up to happen that way.  He doesn't get a "friendly" email and he gets bent?  Man, you have to be really looking for something to dump on them to come up with this.

This is certainly an area we've talked internally about trying to improve as a paperless company. As it goes now we do send these emails automatically but it is on the day drafted. The good news is that since your bill is prorated and you're not held to changing plans, you can expect every bill to be the same monthly and to come out on the same dates. The only exception would be if you change plans and in that case you'll see a prorated credit or charge depending on what is done on the following statement.

I am a technician and it boils down to is reminding the customer about the day that they will be charged by setting up their account online and in mobile form. Maybe this customer wasn’t given that education. But rest assure we are out here day in and day out making sure they receive this knowledge.

Having been a customer since February 2017 (as he's stated elsewhere), he's likely aware of Viasat's billing policies. I think his beef is with the changes to the notification:

this used to be " your account was charged today" now they are a day behind! Sloppy business practices, from a poorly run business.

This one appears to have not been sent on the day drafted but rather the day after -  note the email's title.

Don't know, I'm billed by mail (NRTC) and probably just a reaction to the presumably unannounced change. At least with the prior one (although not the best approach either) he probably had a small window of opportunity to deposit some funds to cover any potential issues before the day's bank reconciliation of other pending transactions or at least check (doesn't sound like that's the case here though maybe for others who might live pay check to pay check).

It really wouldn't kill Viasat (or whatever third party performs their billing functions) to send out a notification that a payment is coming due even if the amount is not specific due to buying more data before the bill date or some prorating  - that's a simple courtesy, not a technical challenge and this is 2018 after all, we have computers that can do this!

I get them all the time from other accounts, despite the fact the final amount won't be known until debited (although I always use a credit card for those automatic payments).

Sometimes I feel Viasat is its own worst enemy by simply not applying some basic common sense to what ticks people off and avoiding the situation altogether. People have been asking for a heads up for years now - and now it appears Viasat has not listened and instead gone the opposite direction with an "Oh by the way we charged your account yesterday".

No but they're my go to item when gifting and I can't find anything else... either that or a tie. It's the fleeting thought that counts.
