What is exactly involved with "storage". I tend to look at my usage each day and understand most of it. Storage, I do not.

yeah that would be likely. A lot of times those updates come and go with very little to show for it aesthetically but it does use data. You could toggle those off and just update when absolutely needed and just update the ones that would benefit you to keep updated (like Google maps for example...last weekend my non-updated Garmin redirected me on a crazy non-maintained mountain dirt road and I ended up blowing out a tire....looked it up on Google and it didn't have me going that route...arghhhhh!!!)

LOL @Brad. My iPhone maps did that to me a few weeks ago, and it is up to date. Note to self: Do not ask Siri for direction to and from those locations again and, do remember that Arkansas has a state highway that is a narrow, winding dirt road over a big mountain for 80 miles.

Even when you update it GPS can run you ragged at times. We were headed home out of New Jersey one year, heading back to Florida and it kept wanting us to turn around and go back to Jersey, when I had a hotel in place in West Virginia. Saw a guy in a gas station with Jersey tags and we got him to verify we were headed the right direction.

Say What??  When I get updates from Steam, they go straight into my computer, same with AMD video card drivers..(usually about 360MB).  So should I be looking there sometimes?  Are these things 'spooled' by exede?

Those count as storage data usage. That''s a file download that isn't an operating system update and, isn't audio or video, so, it's storage.
