USB Port - is it powered?

Many computer cooling fans use a USB connection for power. I'd like to place a small cooling fan near the modem to keep it cooler than it is... I understand the USB port is currently not in use, but would like to know if the port has power to it- I can then use it to power a USB-powered computer fan... (small power consumption - approved for these types of applications).

Please advise!

The USB is supposed to be for upcoming features and that's all the manual says about it.

Cool Idea   [pun allowed]   I'd imagine that it would be discouraged, officially,    and it would be running all the time...

But it would keep your modem cooler! Upcoming features :). I wouldn't count on any.
