usage is wrong

just joined and have been with viasat for ROUGHLY a year and a half. definately a double edged sword here. buyer beware!!!!!! is it the fastest sat internet, ABSOLUTELY!! BUT the USAGE is OUT OF CONTROL. ive read thru some complaints. if you think hey im not crazy, there is no way im using this much....you are right!! its like this internet charges triple time. im not speaking dollars, just usage. we have 5...yes 5, cell phones on a 10 gb plan an RARELY go over. yet every since we have had viasat we go over every month. we just drege thru the slow speed till it renews. but sometimes 2 weeks before renew. but at least 4-7 days before renew is when we run out. yes we do use wifi. also yes a computer and ipad. however 25 gigs?????in 3 weeks??? yea, right! never have we ever watched 1 movie with this internet. nor do we do any online gaming. so the advertisement that they have is a lie. fast yes, but yhis is NOT the isp for HEAVY users. get the largest most expensive pkg and yes you can look at facebook, watch just a couple vine videos, and check a few craigslist adds. no pandore, no movies, no online gaming. and you will still run out. so needless to say, as soon as my contract is up, gonna give gen4 a whirl :)

This is not an ISP for heavy users, it is an ISP for those who have no other choice for internet because of their remote locations.

Do not use any cloud services, disable all auto updates, shut down or remove any apps you do not use, use AdBlock Plus and Flashblock ad ons, and if you have windows 8.1, make sure it is set for "local user".  Close all tabs you are not actually using, iPads and smartphones on wifi can be data hogs too.Just a few things that you can do to lower background data usage. I have been on Exede for 32 months, and on the 10 GB plan, and have never gone over  my limit. It takes time to plug all the leaks, but it is a very good ISP for those not served by land based services.

I had excede in Washington for years without problems. Now I am in Ky and in the two months here I run out after ten days on the 25 gb plan. Customer service sucks. Online is useless; all they do is try to sell their phone service. Calls to customer service yield conflicting and ridiculously please responses

I was actually told I watched an on demand movie which used 20 gb. What made it worse was I don't and didn't do on demand and verified this with TV carrier

They also say I was video streaming on Amazon from my home computer when I was in a plane flying cross country. I want them to look into this and figure out what is wrong. They are completely blowing me off. Does anyone know how to get through the front line people to someone who will seriously look into this? Has anyone had problems like this? Let me know

Thanks I did and am waiting. Wondering about broadband service w speed of 6. About only option. Would that let me send emails and use Internet ( no movies or videos)?

Humm. Not sure on i cloud if on or off. I will check. But im an electricity policewoman as well as internet police lol. So computers off unless being used. Have cleared most unwanted or unused games & apps off cell & computer. On windows 7. I do like their speed but the usage is awful. We never. Had that much usage with other providers. So i just cant fathom this quantity with them. On another note, have you tried gen 4??

Tracy, no, and I will not try Gen4. Their data caps are limited, since only half the data advertised is usable during the daytime, with the other half that must be used during the 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. time frame. Exede has the LNFZ, unlimited data which is what makes me stay with Exede. My neighbors have Gen4 and the love my internet so much better, and plan on switching after their contact is fulfilled.
