HIYA GUYS!!! GUESS WHAT TIME IT IS!!! its time for a review for the one week that ive have had the unlimited data gold 30mbps >:3 also anyhoo... here are what i could do and what i couldnt do...
1. i was able to stream youtube videos faster and at 720p... but yet... it kinda buffered for me... but it still worked :D but when i put it at 480p it works just fine for me :D so yeah :3
2. speeds where kinda iffy on my side... but since ive talked to a rep not to long ago like around... 5am my time they said they where doing maintence updates... so that is what could be affecting some of your guy's speeds... so yeah... also mine to... so yeah...
3. ive been downloading alotta animes with my IDM (aka internet download management/manager) also ive gots the life time key so now i have it for life!!! =^o^= so yeah :3 so i dont need to ALWAYS re-purchase the key like once a year without worrying about when to keep track of when its going to be up or when i have enough money for it... CAUSE!!! IVE GOTS THE LIFE TIME KEY!!! >:3 also i tend to download like alotta episodes at once... but then when imma done with the episodes i put them onto my portable hard drive and i can put it into my xbox one and also watch it off my portable hard drive there!!! >:3 so now i DONT have to WORRY about ANY of my gbs being wasted of re-watching everything >:3 (i have about over about... if yall include the portable hard drive also AND computer total would be about... 32gbs or 33gbs with both of them combines :3 )
4. gaming is kinda iffy cause i was like onto my nintendo switch and i kept on getting disconnect DX but yet when i switched over to my regular router by turning off the wifi onto my wifi modem and so on... and then plugged in my old router it was AOK!!! >:3 i could play splatoon 2 onto my nintendo switch!!! >:3 but yeah >:3
5. i pay about... well to be honest... i havent gotten my bill yet DX but it said 150$ for my area for the unlimited data gold >:3 but yet i know that my bill WILL be kinda high so imma expecting that also :3 so yeah...

Might need a translator, but appreciate the observations.
Old Labs. Did you get a email from the NRTC saying to turn your resolution down to 480p? That tells me a) "optimizer" not running on their accounts and b) a full court press is on to keep bandwidth usage down as much as practical with streaming to support the "Unlimited" plans.

Not yet, but will keep an eye out for it - I'd have probably interpeted it as saying we might be impacted by the Video Data Enhancer being default to on and if streaming to set the content provider to ensure we don't buffer since we wouldn;t have that magic on/off swirth on the NRTC portal - if I get it I'll simply call my NRTC member organization and ask for clarification - but I rarely stream anyway.
I'm not sure ViaSat can fully influence what quality the content provider provides - if I were a streamer one of my tests would be to see what the impact would be of viewing a video that was at a higer resolution when the optimizer/throttler kicks in an detects the video - my guess lots o' buffering and stuttering.
Hopefully some of the feedback made public here will provide a clue - Deku's #1 above seems to be relavant in that regard.
But I suspect all of this is tied into the new traffic shaper mentioned by Alex yesterday so we're probably impacted to some extent (either intentionally or unintentionally). I doubt they'd tailor it for the wholsesaler cannel.
Perhaps a moderator can clarify the impact for us... a little help here please, yeah I know you guys aren't supposed to support us red-headed stepchildren and evil spawn ;)

Amazon video on the computer doesn't buffer and stutter regardless of what resolution I choose in Amazon for it to playback. YouTube set above the resolution for my plan does buffer and stutter. I assume it depends on the source of the video and, if that server can deal with Exede's traffic shaping well or not.

So if you did Amazon above the resolution of your plan it plays fine? (don't worry I'm not telling on anyone, I'm just gathering feedback.) While that may not always be the case that's interesting for sure.

I like your post, and always have. I saw above where Old Labs referenced your connection performance as an asset to understanding the characteristics of the new plans and the effects of the video traffic shaping. See, even though you were just letting us all know how it's working in your neck of the woods, and how happy you are to be able to go wild on the Internet, a slight comment mixed up in there was very valuable.
Your post always show a positive attitude and great enthusiasm. It's just fun to read your stuff because it's filled with pure happiness and nobody will ever guess what you'll say next.
Do let us know how your Internet experience with Exede is going again next week . I'm looking forward to it.
