Liberty Pass is too slow

New user sincer 7/25 with 12 mbps plan and already I've used it all (and have been "graciously" granted a Liberty Pass by Exede) through standard computer operations such as microsoft edge, winword, etc. This all occurred within 5 days of new service. This is already intolerable with speed coming in average 0.11 using Network Speed Test tool.

Hi Angelyn,   There are many reasons that can cause slow speeds. If your data is all used within 5 days, you may need to increase your plan.  Here are some tips to assist you with the data usage below. There is the option to add Buy More data if your speeds are slowed because you have reached your data limit.
Please send your account and contact information to exedelisten@sviasat.com.  I'll review you account to determine what is causing the slow speeds.

The Liberty Plans provide you with a monthly priority data allowance. Once you exceed that allotment, your speeds are throttled between 1 -5 Mbps during non-peak usage hours.

Unfortunately, many are finding that speeds are unusable during peak usage hours. This probably results from not only the throttling but also reflects the term "priority" in priority data - during peak usage periods your not only throttled but any requests/responses you make/receive are serviced at a lower priority than those who have not exceeded their priority data and your at the back of the queue.

While peak usage periods are typically 5:00 PM until 2:00 AM, other external factors come into play. For example, right now my speeds are lower than normal most likely do to the fact that it's approaching 100 degrees and more users are probably staying indoors using the internet.

The only way to get those priority speed back is to buy more priority data or increase your plan allotment.

That being said, there are numerous ways that data is probably being used without your knowledge. The general recommendations here are to conserve your priority data as much as possible using an ad blocker, controlling Flash and HTML5 media, and ensuring that automatic operating system and application updates are disabled.

Since you appear to be using Windows 10, there are a number of actions that can be take to limit its data use described at: http://merabheja.com/internet-data-usage-in-windows-10/

From a browser perspective, you may want to consider installing and using Firefox coupled with both the AdBlock Plus add-on as well as the Flash Control add-on.

Beyond that you really need to know exactly how data is being used on your behalf whther by other devices or applications. It's only in knowing that, that you can address other unwanted/undesirable usage. The following thread here gives some information on doing that:

Basically what I'm reading here is that Liberty pass is a sales gimmick and I fell for it. No criticism here just a realist. My speeds during peak and off peak are both unusable. Probably should have just got more data. Anyone whose continued patronage of Exede hinges on the availability of Liberty pass might want to rethink that line of reasoning. See speed test from peak hours. The good news is you have high upload speeds but that's irrelevant with satellite latency.

This is exactly right, they sold it to me saying oh its great you'll have 1-5mpbs all the time, absolutely NO MENTION of priorities, no mention of them slowing you any more if you use to much while on the pass, this is the Exede way.

Very easy to find the info on all the packages available. You have some responsibility to read the information Exede supplies to EVERYONE.
" What kind of speeds can I expect when I’m using the Liberty Pass?
When the network isn’t very busy (such as during daytime hours), you can expect download speeds from 1-5 Mbps when using your Liberty Pass and upload speed of 1 Mbps. Your precise speeds will vary depending on how much other traffic is on the network in your geographic area. The heaviest users of Liberty Pass may experience slower speeds.

During the times of heaviest usage on the network — usually from about 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. — your Liberty Pass speeds will be much slower than at other times of the day.

So its plain and simple EXEDE LIES about the actual download speeds after you are on liberty pass.
I was flat out told, after numerous questions about the fact, that i would indeed never see speeds slower than 1-5 mbps.
EXEDE LIES to its customers to get them into a two year contract that you must pay to be released from.
Care to give a explanation exede?
I would have to figure your sales people would know what is going on and deliberately tell the customer these things...I SURE WAS!
Exede, how do you respond to this? I was lied to about the service you provide and i expect results!

Well Jim, glad you got information from exede...I on the other hand did not receive anything from them at all, besides a bill and a 2 year contract!
And as far as that goes like i said above i was told i would never have speeds slower than 1-5mbps.
I had to call in just to even get the account number and the only way i found this sight was from doing a history search.

We got it Jim16, the real world experience is as far removed from Exedes ads and sales as they could possibly be, check.  We should have done more research, check.  We are now stuck in a 2 year contract with a service we were misled into, check.

No, I don't think you do get it.  You are trying to scam Exede by getting the cheapest package and expecting unlimited internet service. Start playing fair with Exede.  Fortunately in this country ignorance is not a viable defense.

So confused by the Jim16 responses. Nobody that I can see expects unlimited Internet. Just usable Internet. On liberty pass my Internet is typically unusable. A quarter of a megabit per second reminds me of WAP browsing pre-smartphone days.

Thank you Pipe, my thoughts exactly.  But of course we are just ignorant peasants that don't do their proper research.

I think we have to found the way to sue this company (together) for all the service they offer before sign the contact, but at the end it is the worst company ever. EXEDE IS A SCAM.
