If they were honest up front. I would have never singed up for this internet service provider that blocks links and content on line when you reach data cap....

Using a program called "Playlater". I watch an average of 2-3 hrs per day of the netflix,or amazon prime instant video, and all the other roku etc offerings of my choice. definitely not as easy for me as for someone with unlimited usage, because I have to stay up till midnight to set up Playlater recording. (to have netflix stuff recorded to my hard drive during late night free zone while I sleep). But if staying up till midnight isn't a problem for you, you could do this as well. Like , everyone else, I would MUCH prefer to have no data usage limitations and be able to stream whenever/wherever I felt like it, but until then, Exede works well for me. I have no other choices, and live on a fixed income, so I LOVE Playlater. During daytime hours, I am constantly online (not just email checking but loads of other sites as well) but with careful attention to settings that limit data usage I don't need, I almost always use less than my 10 gb/mo. Usually the last day or 2 of the month, I have enough usage left that I can stream a few hours of netflix or whatever during prime time without having to go to my hard drive collection of streamed media recorded overnight via playlater. None of what I said is going to solve everyone's problems or make data usage limits not a big problem for most, but there are ways to get a lot of what you want. for example, I have already watched all seasons of House of Cards and Orange is the new black, and lots of other truly excellent Netflix fare and I just got exede and Playlater about 7 mos ago. It is a whole new world of entertainment for me. I think satisfaction with what we have sometimes has a lot to do with what we are used to. Some also has to do with one's attitude toward the world--I do believe that the technology required for satellite internet is more expensive than some other broadband technology not because I am being gouged, but because it costs more to shoot satellites up and maintain this kind of technology. But it does burn me that because of where I live, I have no access to broadband/cable bundling where I could get unlimited internet, phone and tv for a terrific price. But where I live isn't Exede's fault. Exede happens to be the best solution I have found for my problem of very limited access.

Aterlo NightShift - https://www.aterlo.com/
It's router based (currently a limited set of Asus routers supported) and from there some Mac support: https://www.aterlo.com/nightshift/supported-hardware/

Sounds like you might have made a mistake and want someone else to be responsible.

I had the same problems for several months when I started regulalrly hitting my data caps for no real apparent reason. Prior to about Novemeber or December of last year I could still access every page I visited even though it was slow. Suddenly that no longer worked. I could use my 3G service at home which only fets about 100k dl speeds and worked fine so i really don't think it is the site rejecting connections due to speeds. In the TOS Exede alludes to the fact that once a person reaches the CAP for the month they can slow and even block access to certain traffic which I believe means they can and do block sites at times. Exede reps have said that is not the case, however it worked fine on 3G and worked fine if I added 5GB to my account but did not work with Exede when DAP'd. Meanwhile those that got on the Evolution plan in my area before they dropped it (2 days before I signed up unfortunately) dont see any slowdowns at all including downloads and streaming video. It is very frustrating.
Fortunately I have gone total dictator on our house internet use and it is keeping things under the cap l, but I would like to see equitable treatment of customers when it comes to usage. Tired of some Evo users I know bragging how they are watching movies every day and not seeing any slowdowns with streaming or downloads even after the cap has been reached. Interesting that evem after Evo users hit their cap they still can post full speed speedtest results...isnt that streaming. When I am DAP'd speedtest wouldn't even load for me.

Hope you can find some ways to get exede to work better for you until you get access to unlimited plans...which hopefully we all will sooner or later. I hope sooner.

Actually the data cabs a totally necessary. Exede is already oversold an a lot (the majority?) of beams. Anyone that doesn't think so needs to do some research before commenting on a topic they are uninformed on. I want my Exede to remain usable, even I don't have as many bytes to use as ideally I would like.

I don't mind the slow speeds after data cap is used.
I hate the fact that they block entire websites and links after data cap is consumed.
that's unheard of, we don't live in a 3rd world country where internet is blocked.
can't wait for a better internet service provider to come around here....

there's a new company coming into town next month..., great speeds..., unlimited data usage..., and no contracts.
the community is aware of the ISP's via the community fadebook page and there much talk about everything....
people here are exited to here about new ISP's coming in this quarter.....
Me.., I could just never get used to having a data cap with followed blocked websites and links.

I beta test software, and yes I have to download what I am going to test. Most of the time that's under 500 MB but, occasionally it's far more. Then I have two choices, use the LNFZ, pause the download during the day and, go again the next night or, get all of it I can during the LNFZ, let it run and buy more bandwidth that month.
That's what I agreed to when I signed up for Exede.

"Will Netflix work?" is a very general question. If I interpret the question to be "will the technology allow me to watch movies?" then the answer is yes. The technology will. If I interpret the question to mean "Is 10 GB enough data to allow me to watch Netflix as much as I want?" then the answer is no.
I don't know what happened to Pam or anyone else. I understand your school issue. I've watched many sessions at the library and downloaded plenty of sample data sets and test at the library.
A similar question about using VPNs on Excede was asked within the last week. Will VPN work? There's nothing in the technology that would prevent it. It's all just ones and zeros. But, the inherent latency of satellite might cause the VPN to disconnect..but maybe not. It depends on the settings of the VPN not the settings of the satellite.

Now I have been on Satalite Internet for over 9yrs now on a 10Gb plan and haven't had issues with going over. Now I don't watch a lot of movies or anything because I know I don't have the data for it. Occasionally I might watch a TV show or two if I missed it. Now the Facebook games and stuff should work just fine I used to play farmville and countyville and currently I play wartune which is 100 times more demanding then eather of those. Yes it can get quite laggy especially when my speeds get down to 1-2meg down load which I'm working with Beau now trying to get that up. I guess point being is yes the data plans do suck big time but they are there because of the fact that the satalite only has a limited capacity of it's own. So in order to keep the speeds up for everyone they create data plans so you don't go crazy and start being a bandwidth hog.

I am irritated but not angry about missing the sign up for Evolution in our area but I am not happy with the unequtiable treatment of user access policies. If you are going to affect classic users downloads, streaming and even web browsing, then the least you can do is slow down evolution users on the non web browsing activities in the same manner when they hit their cap. Either that or offer the same plan to all users so we can get the same experience.
I would like someone from Exede to address this here in the forum so we can understand what is going on and when will the slowness be addressed. I believe once evolution users are slowed down when DAPd on the downloads and streaming it will greatly help to alleviated some of the congestion we are seeing.
