When installing cable underground how deep is is supposed to be buried?

I put mine in electrical PVC 75" be there for 7 years know trouble yet and it is about 1 " deep.

The latest "Viasat Installation and Service Call Standards" found online suggests 6" unless local codes require more.

We have very hard, clay filled ground here, unless you soak it down, or it had rained within the last few hours, digging is nearly impossible. Mine is in PVC conduit barely buried, maybe an inch if that, just to keep the lawn mover from hitting it. Been that way for over a decade, no problems. (pole mount dish due to trees near house.)

No regulations here for buried cable on private property at all, could have ran it up a tree and overhead to the house instead.
