I can not access my router. The people who came to set up the system were not very knowledgeable in the system. I have not had access to the router since the system was installed. the default User and Password has never worked. I really believe they installed a used system and it was never reset to default. I want to have access to monitor who is connected to my system. I have asked about this a couple of times and not really received any help other than they say to reset it. I do not know how to do this and would like detailed instructions on this. Also I would like to be able to change my wifi password from time to time and without this access it is not possible.

First question...

Which router? The Viasat (formerly Exede) WiFi Modem/Router combo device or a thrid party router.

FWIW, resetting a router to it's default state is typically accomplished by pressing a recessed button that is present on the back of the router - it usually requires using a sharpened pencil or paper click and is normally labeled reset.

From there the processure would vary abased on brand/model.

Bill, there is a reset button on the modem/router, it is recessed, and needs to be depressed using a pen or paperclip. Hold it in for at least 5 seconds, that should reset the router back to its original setting.

I have seen the reset button but was not really wanting to press this as usually this will reset all parameters in any device and I did not want to lose access to the internet.  My question to the reset button is will the modem still talk to the exede/viasat servers and still give me access to the network.  If not how do I get it connected again.

Bill, the reset button only resets all the user configurable parameters back to the factory setting. It does not change anything to do with the modem provisioning parameters, you will still have access to the internet, but will have to change things like password, etc.
