Two months in... I live in a rural area and DSL with upload speeds of .75 mbps and download speeds of 4 mbps was all that was available. Except for approximately 2 hrs a day, I get 6 mbps download and 1.67 upload. Adding insult to injury, I'm without service two (or more) times a day. I've been told that the slow speeds are because I'm close to my limit and high traffic times. Both explanations do no apply to the beginning of my billing cycle or the middle of the night.  I understand "up to", but I'm having trouble understanding speeds that are not much better that DSL and almost daily outtages.

Hello Fern,

Your package speeds, unfortunately, will not always be at 12mbps, at times these speeds will fluctuate throughout the day. There will be times of congestion, we make every effort to fair share the bandwidth amongst our customers and are continuing to work to improve the speeds at peak times.

During about 15 hours of the day – roughly from 2 a.m. to 5 p.m. – it’s likely that your speeds will be pretty good. Throughout our “peak” hours when the network is busiest – roughly 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. – there is less bandwidth available, causing speeds to be much slower. If you would like us to review your account and further assist please send us your account and contact info to exedelistens@viasat.com .

I have never seen 12 mbps during any hours, and I have tried them all. I've seen double digits ONCE while I was on the phone with the tech. Everything is based on the internet because of my location and now nothing works. I work from home and this is my busy season. My productivity is way down (regardless of the hours that I try and work) due to my poor choice of provider.
I was sold this service based upon it giving me "up to' 25 mbps download speeds and up to 3 mbps uploads. I don't even get half of that any time of the day or night.  Those are DSL speeds. So tell me why did I switch from DSL to ecede? I'm paying more for the same poor service.

I wish I had that DSL in my area.  Exede has consistently pulled the rug out from under me, "refining" their filters to further restrict my already barely useable data plan, forcing me into a "Liberty" plan that may as well be dialup.  I have 5-6 total outages per day, where for 10-30 minutes I have no internet.  Exede just tells me the network is busy during those times.  If I had ANY other broadband option, I would take it.  I have been an exede customer for more than 4 years, and things keep getting worse.
