Throttled Steam/Origin downloands?

Been with Excede for several years now, and most nights (during my free hours) when I download updates on Steam or Origin I can expect downloads speeds of 2.3 MB/s at most (but usually around 2.0 to 1.6 on average)

HOWEVER, for the last week and a half every night my download speeds have been 60KB/s at best.

I've done multiple troubleshooting options such as restarting my modem and router, plugging my ethernet directly into the modem, restarting steam, turning off all ad blockers, and more. I've even contacted Excede directly several times and got the run-around each time.

This is a problem that persists over multiple computers and the only conclusion I can now come to is that Excede is throttling my downloads.

I want to note that my internet is otherwise normal. Viewing web pages or videos seems to be the same speed, it's just game downloads that are the issue.

I was wondering if anyone else has been having this problem, and if anyone has found and solutions.

I was sick of being throttled on Netflix so I downloaded VyprVPN and it's amazing! It doesn't cost much but it's worth every penny. I don't care that I was throttled down to 480p except it wasn't ever 480p. Always 240p-384p. I called many many times without any help. Now I can stream in 1080p if I want. Let me know if you need any more info.

And now Sling works through this VPN. Always buffered before. Not anymore.

I've been recommending that VPN here for months and you are the first person to come here and say you tried it.  I give notice to everybody that they do keep connection logs but most people don't do things on the Internet where that could become a problem for them.

Now we have a witness that VyperVPN works, and darn good too.

I have no need to lie to anyone here.  I said what it can do and gave the standard disclaimers.  That VyperVPN ROCKS !  but you are the only one so far that has given it a try.  Happy HD streaming.

Just keep in mind the VPN is going to bypass Viasat's data compression technology, so you will use more data.

Oh yea... That too.  Users beware, you'll pay for that awesome performance.

FYI, I'm on  a Freedom plan, and have seen no such throttling at all with Steam, just the standard variability in speeds, nothing near that slow.

I am on Freedom too, but speeds have been below 500kbps during primetime this week. Last night took me over an hour for a 130MB file download. That's bad!

Origin: Yes or used to.  However, I don't think it's really Exede's fault.  I've seen others complain about it not on sat internet.

Steam,GOG,Uplay: No.

I have been seeing this exact same thing in the exact same timeframe and at the exact same speeds you have.  I do all my steam updating during the nightly free period, as I have the Essential 10 plan, and very recently have been getting speeds of no more than 60~KB/s.  Other services like youtube are completely unaffected.

If this keeps up they are going to lose my business.  This kind of speed throttling is unacceptable.

Cannedcream's (and Sleeves') issue sounds very similar to what I am experiencing when trying to download files from Apple and Microsoft: https://community.viasat.com/viasat/topics/throttled-downloads-from-apple-and-windows-update-sites
