The truth about "congestion"?

Viasat is a predatory company. If you actually read their contract, you are obligated to pay for 24 months of service even if they basically provide you with NOTHING. The contract binds you, but it doesn't bind them to provide any *MINIMUM FUNCTIONAL SERVICE* (beyond the priority data... that is the only part they specifically acknowledge responsibility to provide) .

They claim their practices are an effort to "share" the bandwidth with customers, but this is a baldfaced lie. WHERE IS OUR UTILITY TO MONITOR BANDWIDTH ON THE BEAM!?!?!? Wouldn't that save a lot of calls to customer service? If we could see the traffic for ourselves? Why hide it? EH? What's the big secret!? How much can a BEAM carry? What do you mean by "congested"? Why isn't this information public?

For some reason you can still buy more "priority" data even though they claim my speed is being slowed due to "congestion"... how is there more "priority data" to sell if the "congestion" is so terrible. It's lies for money, Y'all.

"All you can eat" doesn't mean **** if you have to suck it through a coffee stirring staw... this is literally the Viasat version of "unlimited". I regularly get less than .50 mbps after my 150g prio data is done. I too was told sweet lies on the phone... I even tried to buy the top tier service because I didn't want to be capped, the representative told me that almost no one uses up their data and I wouldn't need more than the silver plan. Holy ****! How can it be legal to lie like that? I told her we live in a family of 3 and each of us has two devices... I was totally upfront about what my needs were!!! How is this legal?  Answer? It's in the last paragraph. That legalese basically means, "we can lie, you still have to pay... tough ****! Sucker!". Predatory Company!

If you use all your priority data you are slowed because other users are given priority over you, not because of congestion. You can buy more priority and get your speeds back up. Congestion happens during prime time when a lot of users are on, causes everyone's speed to decrease.

Congestion LITERALLY MEANS a "constriction of flow" .. show me proof of this "constriction". I think we are being throttled, whether the bandwidth can handle it or not.

Ive often wondered about the extra gig for 10 bucks myself. This used to be a good company, but has went downhill in recent months. I'm a 3 year customer and will jump ship when another provider comes along.

Also, your paragraph is some kind of weird circular logic. First you say that congestion is not what is causing slow-downs... Then you say slowdown is caused by congestion.
My point is that there is no way for users to see what the truth is. The bandwidth may be broad enough for all of us to easily get what we need from it without *any* slow downs. But because Viasat is so tight fisted with the metrics we need to see what's really going on, I am lead to believe they are lying about their capacity. Prove me wrong, VIASAT!

Customer agreement, page 1, paragraph D: "The Unlimited service data plans are governed by the "Unlimited Data Policy" and, as set forth in Exhibit A, If you use more than 150 gb during your monthly billing period we may prioritize your data behind other customers during network congestion, which will result in slower speeds" ... This SPECIFICALLY correlates the throttling policy (because that *is* what it is, throttling.) to user congestion on the bandwidth! If Viasat is throttling for *ANY OTHER REASON*, including profit... they are in violation of the terms of service! So SHOW US PROOF!

Woody: Elon is interested in putting up a GLOBAL internet satellite array that will provide fast internet, anywhere on the surface of the earth! Elon isn't about "half-stepping" either... he's all about being as efficient as possible to bring prices down for the consumer. I can only speculate on a thing which we wll be lucky to have maybe 10 years from now, but I am guessing it will be lightening fast and WAAAAY cheaper. I'll be bald by then of course, long since having pulled all my hair out dealing with companies like Viasat.

They say they only throttle you if beam is congested thats a lie! Because at 1:00pm I used my 150gb of data, and my download speed was 32 mbps and after I went over I checked and its 7mbps they say when beam isnt congested and you have used your data, speeds will be normal! Lord Cant imagine how slow it will be tonight during primetime But lucklily at midnight my data resets! when unlimited first became available I didnt get throttled till after 180GB and Now Instantly when you hit 150.0 they throttle they say it will get better when ppl get off viasat 1 and go to viasat2 BUT most ppl on viasat1 has no reasons to go to viasat2 because there plans are better on viasat 1! on viasat2 they throttled after 100gb of use! they add to many customers to the beams and I would be happy if I can play a video in the evening time after going over 150gb without me having to push play and than pause and wait for it to load! Because if I didnt it would freeze and play 3 seconds and stop and load and play again!

Yep. Ironically, I got *good* speeds on a Saturday afternoon (after using 150g allocation) on a *rainy day* ... when you would expect usage to be HIGH... but for whatever reason... I had one Saturday of "good" internet. But this just made me realize, that "congestion" really isn't what is affecting the speeds. That's just smoke screen for whatever it is they are really doing. Why won't they put up live data of the network so we can actually see how much bandwidth is being utilized... then we could just look at it when things are slow... see that a lot of people are trying to use it, and then it's just "Oh... okay...". But they won't share the data and they certainly won't make it easily accessible. A lot of us use this service in rural locations, where cell service is frequently bad. They won't help via chat or e-mail with anything  that is actually useful... basically, "restart your router" is all you get from them... You can get more information on the phone if wasting your life like that appeals to you. The reps are fine as human beings, its just the company and policy that is  ____.

WELP!!! HERE IS MY TIME TO SHINE ONTO HELPING YALL GUYS OUT!!! >:3 SO HERE I GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! >:3

NUMBER 0. VIASAT!!! YOU MAY REMOVE MY COMMENT!!! AS YOU SEE FIT!!! BUT!!! this is my opnion... and stuff... soooooo.... if you guys see ANYTHING rude... or anything... then you may remove it :3 (but i tried to help them out... BUT!!! IT DOESNT GIVE ME THE OPTION!!! this is your guys forums!!! you guys have the RIGHT to remove my comment IF it doesnt fit the topic OR if i did something bad!!! THANK YOU FOR READING VIASAT!!! <3 LOVE YOU GUYS!!! AND WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT YALLS!!! <3    )

OK!!! 1 first off... they ALWAYS i mean ALWAYS!!! tell you that the speeds are UP TO!!! BUT!!! NOT GUARENTEED!!! <---- meaning... imma onto the unlimited silver plan that is supposed to be 25mbps download AND 5mbps upload... BUT!!! i tend to always have a speeds of 13mbps-17mbps :3 during the day time... during the night time... its usually down to.... 10mbps-8mbps for me :3 which is good enough for me :3 BUT!!! imma onto viasat-1 NOT viasat-2... so i was lucky enough to even stay onto viasat-1 cause imma guessing alotta people are wanting the viasat-2 right now :3

ALSO!!! they also... recommend you to TURN OFF!!! the auto updates onto your guys devices... THEN!!! ONLY manually UPDATE the apps you have onto your guys devices... (trust me i dont have to do this cause imma onto the 150gbs and NEVER EVER WENT BEYOND THE 150GBS!!! cause i know how to manage my data :3 ive been with viasat for since... 2016 :3 I LOVE THEM TO DEATH!!! :3 oh wait... or was it... 2017 :/ I CANT REMEMBER!!! D:      ) BUT!!! yalls NEEDS to manage your guys data so yalls dont have to worry about your guys gbs running out... plus... let me tell ya something... i was onto a verizon wireless hotspot... 10gbs for 100$ A MONTH!!! YEAH YOU HEARD ME!!! I HAD TO STRETCH THAT 10GBS OUT THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE MONTH!!! @>@ i dont know how i managed... BUT!!! I DID!!! :D it wasnt easy... BUT!!! also i went to my local library alotta also... so that couldve saved me alotta gbs... PLUS!!! i went onto my cell phones data also!!! :3 SOOOOOOOOOOOOO!~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the big point i see into yalls problem is... yall need to learn to manage yalls gbs each month...

OK!!! 2 SECOND!!! if yall ever know how hard it is to build a satellite then... you must NOT know how hard it is to figure what pieces go to where... and plus... IF yalls want some other good service... i ALWAYS i mean ALWAYS recommend... IF YALLS!!! have like ummm... DSL/CABLE internet... then why choose viasat??? cause viasat is the ONLY option IF yalls dont have ANY OTHER DSL/CABLE internet... which satellite is my ONLY option... cause NO cable NOR dsl was provided into my area D: BUT!!! IF YALLS!!! want my opnion... then... why dont ya... go and make a good ISP provider that has actual brains of how to learn to think clearly and think like how a satellite works... TRUST ME!!! i can always put myself into other peoples places... THEN!!! i can get all the information of what they have been doing!!! :3 SOOOO!!! yall think its easy to run a good ISP dontcha??? its NOT that easy... why dont you prepare for a world of failures until it ACTUALLY works... THEN!!! once when its done... then ya can like... put it up for good ISP services... OH YEAH!!! I MUST MENTION!!! that itll cost about... 1.8$ million or was it... 1.8$ billion JUST to get the materials for the satellite, ummmm hmmmmm lets see here... OH YEAH!!! ALSO!!! how the gravity is gonna hold out onto the satellite... (for this... yalls needs to go to college to know how space works and so on... and there are technitions out there also... thatll help yalls out :3    ) and yalls needs to test it with an itty bitty baby platform to see IF it is ABLE to withstand the gravity... IF not then... yalls need to go back to the drawing board and so on... BUT!!! YALLS!!! NEED to understand... of how HARD it is... JUST to make a company... THEN!!! after making the company... yalls need to like literually need to go and get licensed people to know what they are doing... THEN!!! yalls needs to have them into training and so on... THEN!!! yalls need to make so much happen imma NOT gonna waste my breath... cause yalls know where this is leading too...

OK!!! 3 THIRD!!! if yalls think its easy... WELP!!! it is NOT easy... yalls... need to like literually need to go and fund about hmmmm let me see.... about.... 6.3$ billion JUST to get the new satellite of the ISP just to get going... BUT!!! ill stop now since imma kinda already digging into this stuff... BUT!!! imma gonna be go nerding out all over this kinda stuff @>@ FEW!!! WHAT A LONG LONG LONG PARAGRAPH!!! @>@ MY FINGERS ARE HURTING FROM TYPING!!! @>@ TIME TO SMOKE A CIGGY!!! AND THEN!!! PLAY SOME VIDEO GAMES NOW!!! >:3 ill be back into a couple of hours then!!! HOPE YALLS READ THIS ENTIRE THING!!! IF NOT!!! THEN GO READ IT!!! IT HAS SOME GOOD POINTERS!!! :3

HAVE A GOOD DAY GUYS!!! AND REMEMBER!!! TO GO PLUS ULTRA STYLE!!!!!!!!!!!! <3
