I did the same three months ago.  I got suckered into buying additional bandwdth twice and then upgraded 150.  If anything, the speed is slower.  I and paying $111/mo for speeds of less than 1gbps when I am home and can use it.  I think I will switch to the cheapest plan they have; it isn't any slower and will save $50/mo.

Changing to a bigger data plan has NOTHING to do with your download speeds.

Changing to a bigger plan removes the cap on bandwidth.  It didn't matter, even without the cap the speed is below 1mbps.  So I am paying more without it improving my service.  I was lied to about the data speeds I would receive.

well they did say it would be estimates. estimate means its always not going to be gaurtee all the time. they ALWAYS say the estimates of 12mbps download and 5mbps upload. THOSE are the estimates...

The salesperson said it might be as low as 2-5mbps in the evening.  I get less than 1mbps.

I'll repeat.  Changing to a larger data plan has Nothing to do with your download speeds.  If you were getting 1mbs on the 18gb plan, you will get 1mbs on the 150gb plan.

Hi Robert,  There are many factors that affect speed, your  computer, router, number of users on the internet in your home at the same time, and the internet traffic.

Yourservice speeds can also be affected by overall internet traffic, congestion, and the quality of the servers for the web sites or networks to which you areconnecting. We makethe best effort to provide great servicebut we can not guarantee any minimum speed. There are several things you can doto keep your computer optimally performing. These include:
  • Regularly clearing browser history, cache, and cookies.
  • Making sure you don’t have too many programs running simultaneously when you are using the service.
  • Regularly running virus scans, spyware scans, and Windows updates.
  • Reinstalling the optimizer program any time youchange computers or browsers.
