hiya guys here i am today tell you guys of how much i used of my 150gbs of data plan that imma on :3 ok so ive downloaded a digital game around the 2nd week of april. (mind that it was i think 60 to 70 some gbs per game) also ive downloaded it with leaving me about.... 84 some gbs or 70 some gbs that i had to for the rest of the month. so therefore i was just doing my daily usage making an eye onto how much i used my data per video and so on.

so it was down to 60% then to 70% and i was kinda worried i wouldnt have enough data... BUT!!! i was wrong :3 even when watching youtube videos and also going onto my discord servers and so on i was able to make it though the ENTIRE month of with my data usage :3 also it didnt take up too many gbs/mbps either :3 i just watch youtube sometimes and also play onto my xbox 360 and also downloading anime also :3

OH YEAH!!! ALSO cant forget that ive downloaded a game onto my ps4 and it didnt take that much data also even when playing online also :3 so therefore i was able to play online and so on :3 also everyday i say to myself that imma lucky to have exede into my area and so on :3 IF it wasnt for exede id be stuck onto that mobile hotspot... BUT!!! imma glad i have exede now :3 CANT WAIT FOR THE NEW BIRD TO GO INTO SPACE NOW!!! :3

this is how much data ive used for the one game AND the other game youtube videos and also discord and reading my manga online also downloading some anime at each week also :3

NOW!!! if youll excuse men i need to download some anime for me to watch later AND store it for late to watch so BAI BAI!!! :3

P.S. Dear exede.....

I LOVE YOUR SERVICES KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MY TEAM!!! :3

I wish I could play a game. No way at less than 2Mbps speed. Worthless for me but good for you.

Tim, a question for you .....

While you may  be getting a speed of only 2 Mbps that should be sufficient assuming that is the entire story in terms of "consumption".

Lets say for example your "through-put" at the modem was ..... 5 Mbps and you only had a SINGLE program running that demanded  .... 2 Mbps for proper operation. Under those conditions all would be well your "input" capacity is greater than your "data draw" ... the single program will run at full speed. However, a single computer has 65,536 com ports, any and all can obtain a connection to your modem and as a consequence can "draw" data from your input capacity. That is a lot of potential connections. Some of them are easily seen ... open a browser and you have traffic on port 80. Open a email client program and you will use 2 more ports, one for incoming mail and another for outgoing. So that is three ports that can be in use ... but that only covers the "things" that you can see to be open .. that is Programs  ... but there are also many Processes ... routines that run, usually unseen in the background, that also are drawing from your input capacity.

Lets get back to our math ... at a given moment we have a input capacity of 5 Mbps and we have a main Program/Application running that NEEDS 2 Mbps to run properly. What we don't know is that there are several unseen background processes running that in total are using 4 Mbps of our input capacity leaving only 1 Mbps to run our needed program .. so the program performance suffers due to insufficient bandwidth.

Considering that many "things" can draw from our capacity even on a single machine, what is the accumulated TOTAL draw from ALL connected devices, both wired and wireless that, very likely in the aggregate, use so much bandwidth that we are left with the impression that we have "slow" speeds.

What tools and what steps have you taken to determine what your total "Network data draw" is?

I understand what you are saying and have fought this for a long time. I pay for 25Mbps and have 150Gig plan. I do not have anything else on and have shut off all updates on any phone or tablet. It sucks trying to watch something on Amazon Prime or Netflix because it takes 2 hours to watch a 45 minute show. The speed is fine during the day when I am gone at work or at night at 3:00AM but that does me no good unless I am at home sick from work during day. Curious why you think 5Mbps is so good when I pay for and was sold 25? I would love to get the 12Mbps I originally was sold on.

I just tossed out % Mbps as a comparative number .. it could have been anything, I just grabbed one out of the air.

A satellite connection is series of tough compromises.

It is a service whose bandwidth capacity can be considered "frail" at best and then it is "shared" on many levels .. the entire capacity of the satellite itself, the capacity of the beam (thoughput) at the satellite, the capacity of the Gateway that serves to provide earthside uplink/downlink services.

It is also "shared" at the users terminal level .. first by the number of devices that are connected at any given instant and then further "diluted" by the number of programs ("seen" items) and processes ("unseen" items). The bandwidth that is potentially  available to you is reduced and diluted at each step.

The 25 Mbps that you pay for is really an "up to" value. There simply are too many variables in a satellite connection to offer a guarantied level of performance.

In truth it is possible, even likely, that Exede has oversold its capacity, at least in your local beam/gateway location and that is why you are seeing "primetime" speed drops.

They likely booked more customers so as to generate more income with the idea that ViaSat-2 would soon come online and really "explode" their capacity ... and as we have seen, the launch has been delayed a number of times due to things beyond Exede's control. I'm sure they wish that bird was in operation even more than you do.

I was however pointing out areas of "bandwidth bleed" that you could perhaps address so that you could perform your needed tasks even with your reduced speeds. You can easily watch Netfix at 2 Mbps if your playback resolution is set to SD or lower. I'm just saying that it is VERY likely that you have items of which you may be unaware of that is robbing some bandwidth that brings you to a level that is "assigned" to a given activity that is insufficient for that activity to operate as desired.

If you were to connect, by Ethernet cable, a single computer directly to the modem ... so that there was a 100% possibility of no other connections paths and then loaded the free version of Glasswire on that single computer, you likely would be amazed as too the number of background processes that turn on/off and consume not only data from your allowance, but also reduced the amount of bandwidth available for other activities.

Do I wish this were not the case? Oh you bet, in spades. However as a sat user for over 13 years I have learned how to squeeze my connection so hard I can almost get 10 bits to a byte.

Every data bit that "leaks" is one less that I have to support the stuff I want to need to run.

Do I wish I had cable? Yup, but the reality is I have to learn how to work around the limits of what I have, not what I wish I had.

Hook a single computer directly to the modem.

Load the free version of Glasswire on that computer

Monitor how many processes are running and how much data they are consuming, how much of your limited bandwidth is being bleed off by that type of activity.

Glasswire has a free version that works well for us sat users:

Sorry, I am not going to do that just to watch something on a computer. I haven't started Netflix yet so the 2Mbps isn't an issue.

"Sorry, I am not going to do that just to watch something on a computer"

So basically you are unwilling to entertain the idea that something on either your computer or your Network could be bleeding off bandwidth that may prevent you from doing your main activity?

And a free solution and that?

Your system my friend. Good Luck.

Thanks for the help. I have been down this road before and it is not something on my computer since it is not on, just my Galaxy tablet or my Ipad. I would like to view over smart TV if possible but rarely do to how much download it takes to view HD movie.
