I am getting a Communication timeout error when logging into my voice tracking program but if I switch to my dsl (as a backup) it logs in fine...I have always had this problem and need a fix so I can use Exede/Viasat to its highest potential.

timeout error is going to need to be corrected with your voice tracking provider. the timeout error is because sat provided internet connections have much more latency because of the distance the signal travels

I am just wondering is viasat blocking the connection?  The voice tracking provider is on fiber.

No. They are not blocking it. Most likely related to the latency issue noted above.

You have DSL and Viasat? Surprised DSL doesnt met your needs that you have satellite internet as your primary.

Yep, what Oliver and VatSat said above.  The timeout issue is likely due to the delay with communicating to our satellite, 22,000 miles above us.  That causes a ping rate of 600 ms or so, and cannot be changed.

You might try reaching out to your voice tracking provider and see if they can set your account up for a satellite connection.
