I miss the old forum because you can't PM people on here.

And I will annoy others on here who feel Viasat is their only alternative if I talk too much about something other than satellite internet.

So I am going to try this week with Viasat off. Everybody else, enjoy that extra 700 or so kbps in primetime I am giving up!

Thanks!

I need to thank Viasat too. Their unilateral plan changes drove me to look at alternative solutions. Sort of like a car. You finally have enough of one brand and try something else.

In the 90's I would never think of driving a Honda or Nissan. 20 years later I only own a Honda and Nissan and have no intent of buying a G.M. or Chrysler product ever again. Of course Nissans are made in Tennessee and Hondas are made in Ohio. My last GM car was made in Canada. Lol

Hope it goes well for you VetSat. Having a low latency unlimited plan is a dream that I don't think I'll ever see unless I move closer to civilization. Keep us posted.

I can get 2G outside my house in winter and 4G if I hike up the mountain in front of my house. Speeds are slow because I'm about 13 miles from the closest tower. With a Wilson repeater the best speeds I can get are around .5 Mbps. I don't think there's any other viable option for me other than satellite.

Yeah. Doesn't sound like it. And 3G goes away at the end if this year.

For a moment, there I thought you were going to be talking about Joe "Plugs" Biden, that he'd dropped out before even getting in and would have been really annoyed with that conversation. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Let us know the outcome.

I'm sure that many of them are disappointed to find that "Plugs" is out of the running as they scan over their news feeds this AM.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.

You know where to find me.

Netflix. 1080p. Streaming about 2.87Mbps. If it drops to around 2.25Mbps the stream drops to 720p.

Roku I haven't streamed yet, but running through my Plex server on this new network home it works fine.

Downside is my 6620L has turned off a couple times. It stayed on for 12+ hours, but sometime today it turned off.

I have until the end of the month to cancel Viasat. Will I or won't I? Will I keep it another month? I have had satellite internet since 1996. Big decision. Or am I just a glutton for punishment!

Update.  Just pulled north of 25Mbps at 11:30pm.  Viasat has been off since Sunday evening.  I have to leave town for the weekend (I could take my internet with me now...put wont).  Won't be in your neck of the woods this weekend Gwen, but NEXT weekend...I won't be too far from Bev and Stephen (might have to go checkout the magic beam down there).

Anyhow...good luck everybody, with whatever you decide to do to with internet.

Testing will resume Sunday evening.  t-minus 3 weeks again counting.
