Hi mfener,  Yes that is the site that is recommended. There are a number of different websites that can be used to check internet speeds.  Please use www.speedtest.net for the most accurate results for a satellite network.

Using speedtest.net I got ping latency over 650ms, download 2.4Mbps, upload 0.13Mbps. This afternoon was worse. Network not loaded with other machines. This is intolerably bad. Please comment.

John, right now some beams are very congested and speeds are slow because of it. The fact that your was worse in the afternoon is proof of that - the more people that are using your beam at the time, the slower it will be for everyone.

Being out of data for the month will also reduce your speeds, more on Classic or Freedom plans than on Liberty plans but, all plans see a speed reduction once the allotted data is used for the month.

WiFi is generally slower than hard wired connections and, other devices on your LAN might be doing background updates or refreshes unless you disconnect them entirely for the test.

If you suspect there may be a problem with your equipment, please email your account and contact information to exedelistens@viasat.com along with a request that your slow speeds be investigated further.
