Here's "food for thought"

http://money.cnn.com/2017/01/11/pf/jetblue-free-wiffi-all-domestic-flights/

Don't miss the best part...

"We have designed a way to offer the same amount of bandwidth to every device," said Jamie Perry, JetBlue's (JBLU) vice president of marketing.

He said a flight from Boston to San Francisco had 190 devices connected at one time. "They could still stream video smoothly."

From the ViaSat website...

https://www.viasat.com/news/amended-contract-boost-quality-jetblue-fly-fi-flight-internet

The "bandwidth fire-sale" continues.

And there are people that actually say I don't know what I'm talking about.
Sheep, they're all sheep.

However, I have yet to see my speed drop below the 150 kbps throttle I have set in my virtual machine and, every time I needed to increase the speed to download a large file, I have received the full increased speed every time.  Then again, I have only one computer connected to the Exede modem using an ethernet cable, and have turned off as much software cruft as I have been able to find.

I suspect that your problem is due to either parasitic devices on your network that you don't know about and/or parasitic software cruft in the programs you are using.

Same problem a year later: I just got a new installation of ViaSat and after 2 weeks of using it the 25 GB threshold was reached. Instead of the throttling to 1Mbps I measure now regularly values below 100 kbps, and often get less than 20 kbps for long stretches of time.

I am pretty much outraged by this because of their misleading statements in the contract and their advertising. I expected "occasional" short periods of slow internet but not that the system becomes basically useless after the data limit is reached. Had I known this I would have never signed up. Now I'm stuck with a stupid 2 year contract otherwise have to buy myself out paying more than $350.
