Speculation about Viasat-2's antennas

Found this blog this evening. It's dated, but speculates the antenna deployment issue is related to the "high density" antennas. In other words, not all areas where it was intended to provide the high-speed Platinum Plans are going to get it now.

Just wish they would fully divulge the issues and be done with it. Great find though!

RE: fully divulge the issues

Here it is: Viasat hiring Panel Fabricator - Temporary in Atlanta, GA, = Our Atlanta location is looking to train, groom and grow your skill set in assembling panels and shearing panels for fabrication in order to manufacture state-of-the-art antennas for all corners of the world!

If the high density coverage areas are significantly reduced, that is a lot of lost revenue for Viasat because that is where the high dollar subs are. One sub in high density is worth 3 subs in the general coverage area, and as subs shrink, they need more of the high dollar ones.

Again, all speculation. Just trying to put two and two together to get five :).

I learned a few years back to never trust a blogger. Most only care about generating traffic to their website to generate advertising dollars.

I'm a world traveler who has been to every continent at least once and refuse to start a blog for that very reason.

Stock closed at $64.88 today. I was smart enough to buy more shares last week at $62.57.

Our communication from the big boss has been that we don't anticipate that it will affect our plans much as far as performance goes and that we can make up for any handicap that may be caused. So far the rollouts have been smooth.

For what it's worth, personally I've always approached the "don't worry unless the pilot/stewardess/doctor/boss sounds worried". Everyone's been pretty calm and this is barely brought up or at all so as an "insider" I don't think this will be a big issue and won't affect our residential plans or performance.

Cool video Stephen! Got the Penguins, Polar Bear Plunge and all!  I remember a few years ago Metallica played a set in Antarctica (didn't play Trapped Under Ice...which would have been awesome) https://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/metallica-play-a-dome-in-antarctica-20131209

Brad, I think that your boss might be calm because their obvious goal is ARPU. They're not seeing much that hinders that. But what does that portend for those of us that have been waiting for months to see a tangible improvement in speed and plan offerings, due to VS2?

My point being, I'm not sure we can take your boss's calmness as a reliable indicator of better days ahead for us, the "littles".

Of course, I could be way off - and as things are right now in my household, I still find that our "deal" with ViaSat is a fair one. Do we want more? Heck, yeah! But things are fair, there's value there (for us - others MMV).

Thanks. I consider my trip to Antartica and once being a Viasat Champion to be the highlights of my life.

This is strange. All I did was mention not being a champion anymore and all of a sudden my avatar image is gone. I know I look ugly but I didn't think that was against the rules.
