Keeping my fingers crossed! After years with Hughes Net and spending a small fortune on empty promises and speed so slow I could never stream any movies, I am pretty happy with Exede so far. I just crossed the 6 month promo mark, and at this time nothing has changed. I'd been worried that after my honeymoon period was over, everything would go south. It hasn't. Yet.. My speed has exceeded (no pun intended) my expectations the majority of the time. It probably helps that I live where I live, and for that, I am grateful. Customer service has been excellent!  Yes, I've had to wait several minutes occasionally to speak to a representative, but it's been worth the wait, as all my problems/questions were resolved. They are friendly, cooperative and best of all, they SPEAK ENGLISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I hope this relationship continues to go as smoothly as it has.  If not, I will be back, but on a different forum! lol

Yup, real English!   The Colorado accent is not real, it's the effect of living at such a high altitude.  The people working at Exede are actually a bit 'light-headed' as a result, but still, really nice people.
I'm coming up on a year with Exede and speed and service has been excellent.   Exede is for Internet...period.  Some people make it an addition to their home entertainment system and then cry foul when they use up their data in a few days.  I rent from "Red Box" or choose movies at my local (somewhat.. an hour into town) library.  You won't see any change in performance after the promo runs it's course.

I have had Exede for over 2 years now and my speed has always been real good. When I have had to call everyone has been really nice.

Man, I can totally relate.  I dumped ScrewsNet a month ago after years and years of poor service and the worst customer support I have ever seen with any company I have ever dealt with.  Yes, the AMERICAN tech support will be a welcome change.  I have not had to call it yet, contrary to almost weekly encounters with the buffoons at ScrewsNet.

So far, so good with Exeed.  FTP, RDP and all of my developer tools work very well.

I just shipped back my Hughes equipment and I have never been happier to get rid of something in my life.

Happy customer so far.

My first year is up in 2 days.  I really like Exede, it has been everything they claimed to be.  I do see people come here to complain but then Exede reaches out to them to make things right and although complainers had time to gripe, they rarely come back to thank or otherwise acknowledge that Exede will and did  make things right when given the chance. 

Just remember that satellite Internet is a network connection, not a media streaming device although it has that capability on a limited basis.  The Internet is an information service that expanded to other things as the tremendous capability of local  delivery systems expanded into the urban areas.

I'll tell you what really got to me the last time.  Hughes blamed me for the problems I was having and wanted to send me to "Home Tech Support" and charge me $100 for it.

The first day I was on Exede, everything worked perfectly, right out of the box.  The problem with FTP that I was having with Hughes vanished immediately.  One of their lackeys even had the gall to get  on a thread I posted in this forum and give me a ration about it.

Hughes blames the customer first.  They refuse to escalate a serious issue and deny that anything is wrong.  I cannot even begin to describe how angry I was at them.  I despise Hughes.

I have not had one problem with my Exede service so far.  Not one bit of down time.  I do feel a bit limited with the 25 GB, as I run my business over the internet, but I hear that the bandwidth limits are going away next year anyway.

All things considered, I am extremely happy I dumped Hughes.

I'm hoping for a somewhat generous  freedom plan for all next year where even after using up all the priority data, speed will still be good enough to stream video at lower resolutions.  We'll find out when the time comes what Exede can do.  I suspect they will reward us for having patience and keeping faith in them.
