Consider going old school and using one of the freely available desktop email clients.

I've never been a fan of web based email except when traveling and not having my computer (laptop) along for the ride.  Also handy when having multiple accounts...

Either use an email client for viewing, such as Thunderbird, Outlook, Windows Live Mail, or switch to a gmail account.

Hello John,
Unfortunately as far as design and everything goes, that's all Zimbra's settings. We just use them for hosting our email service following the end of Google's relationship with internet service providers. Like what Steve and Old Labs suggested, a mail client will probably be the solution for you. It gives you all your email and functions just like your current email and the layout is admittedly better in terms of layout size by using those (plus they are free)

I prefer Thunderbird client on PC, and use the email app on my mobile device. However, I do use the wildblue web mail occasionally. I made it more to my liking by playing around with the view options. You might try changing the view settings in web mail page if you are averse to using an email client.
