I was told by my installer that it slows down to dialup speed. I was also told that some sites may not work but email will be slow but will work.

I also would be curious to know the max speeds while capped.

I've been with them for two years and its just the past two months that the quality of service has gone down. My dish was moved this early spring because it began with some issues of line of sight and then all was fine for awhile, but now I'm dapping put after 10 days and even 2 more gigs won't get me through. I used to have 3.5 left over every month! The one time I did go over when my sons phone caught my signal, I still had no problem using the internet. The sight that gets hit the worst seems to be Facebook. Can't even use it when I'm dapped.

That's ridiculous! Something is wrong somewhere. Personally, I think it has to do with those folks that are allowed unlimited.

That, I am sorry to say,  has become the norm in the past couple of months for those of us who go over each month. Speed cut to next to nothing, in my opinion, is a method to drive us to after midnight usage.

That is not true Callen, new customers in select beams are able to get on the unlimited data plan. These are beams that are underutilized, mostly alone both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. Check on the website exede.com and you will see the offers.

Debbi,

Your service or certain uses of your service may be significantly slowed and/or restricted. This means that certain web pages and online applications will take significantly longer to load and some services will not be useable. However, you will be able to continue to engage in all Internet activities at full speed during the Late Night Free Zone.

Your service, or certain uses of your service, will be very slow or curtailed. For example, streaming videos and music, large file downloads, virtual private networking, voice/video chat, gaming and cloud backup services will not work. Remember that using the Late Night Free Zone or Early Bird Free Zone, the Buy More option or upgrading your service plan are all ways to avoid the significant slowing or restrictions that will result if you use 100% of your data allowance.

Speeds will vary.  When your services have been slowed, you should be able to do basic web browsing.

Karmin, basic web browsing is unusable in my cases where I've gone over.

When I go over my limit If its really important I will go ahead and tether my PC with my phone, just something I sometimes do in a pinch.
