slow loading/speeds, dropped connections

Lately, I have been experiencing slow web page loading, losing internet connections and terrible speed tests:
test 1:   D-load   4.17 mbps       U-load   1.28 mbps
test 2.   D-load   6.59 mbps       U-load   1.88 mbps
test 3    D-load   3.30 mbps       U-load   1.11 mbps

Looking for suggestions.  This is already beginning to feel like deja-vu  from my bad experiences with hughesnet.

These are roughly the same speed/connection issues I had with hughesnet and I got rid of them for just that. With hughesnet, it started out great when you first signed up and within a couple of months the issues began and gradually worsened over time until I was only receiving no more than 333kbps and not even able to get reading for Uload. Eventually i couldn't even connect at all.

Ask tech support. Tell them to check for packet loss. It took me 2 techs to even figure out what I was talking about, but be persistent.

BTW.....packet loss is caused by network congestion. Exede is obviously putting too many customers on streams that can't handle the load. Profit isn't a bad thing, unless your not delivering the product you promised. Packet loss has been a problem for several weeks for me. I bet I'm not the only one.

no, you arent. and the retransmission of packets then causes me to go over the bit dole, major sigh. i get the whole, satellite being a shared medium thing, but it seems that if youre oversold, then stop selling. it feels like when they hit capacity, they just rework the terms of service to allow them push the margins further.

Hi Pyrotuc, "Packet Loss" usually means in the communication between your modem and the internet, some packets are being dropped, depending on the rate this would result in slower speeds or slower browsing. If you would like for me to take a look I would be more than happy to review your account. Please send your account and contact information to exedelistens@viasat.com. Thank you.
