Sick of this

I have had this internet service for three months, speed is almost nonexistent. I asked when I signed up if there was enough speed to watch movies and tv, I was told there was. I can’t hardley watch a rented movie at all. And when I do it’s constantly reducing to SD. I’m about sick of it and ready to go back to sat tv. When I call they say reboot and it changes nothing. Then they say it’s because of internet traffic, well, it’s an internet service why can’t they provide enough service for everyone! I pay for unlimited data, but it’s not unlimited, it hardly works!

Your service is 30, you have a 10 dollar modem rental fee and a few taxes. Looks right to me.

I think Karen is complaining that her three month introductory rate is about to expire.

Also it sounds like she used all of her priority data and is complaining that it is only fast during her free zone. Makes perfect sense to me.

10 GB will let you watch 3 or 4 2 hour movies at best then you will be reduced to very slow speeds until next month.

So you said ready to go back to Satellite TV?  Am I to understand you dropped your DirectTv/Dish and went strictly with Viasat for all your viewing needs?  That is not a good idea.  In no way, shape or form should Viasat internet be considered a "cord cutting" option.

Cord cutting, oak or madrone, frys w/that? TV has cable or twisted pairs. Internet requires method to communicate and you still need cords; dish to modem, modem to router from there is up to you. When you have no other options there will always arrive a behemoth to provide. At a highly advantageous price (to them.) Zoe Homer, Viasat currently speaks in ads of wifi and phone but of course will be a rather hefty charge for VoIP. Viasat is realizing how few options rural citizenry have and now going for maximum ride dollars from customers past, present and future. Current campaign alludes to all comms needed for your home. Which is about as real as the 12mbps. Data limits from a fixed cost unit is quite sucky and that is about all there is to say about it. Would be nice to get extended data in return for less than some percentage of up to 12. But that would put beanie grrls and boyos in anaphasic acounting coma. And the company, further referred to as 'the company,' wouldn't give high wonks ludicrous bonus $$s. Marge and Franny say hi, g'day. Granted the company spent a goodly amount of billions to spec, launch (Guiana? are you shi**ing me), integrate, etc...yatta the new orbital assembly (junk). Now it will be like everything else, don't agree to what you can't do as a consumer, check other options and wail like a banshee whilst banging head on nearest sturdy tree. Gnashing of teeth and self flagellation optional with their own costs.

It could be worse, there could be a self aggrandizing politician in office at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Or the comet scheduled next could land on your brand new car that wipes out satellite dish and then insurance says "Act of God, NO PAY." Try to enjoy and realize they want 100usd from everyone every month per input to home. Google wants to use kites and/or balloons. Yahoo got bent and AOHell is doing just peachy. The littering penalty imposed by space aliens could get ugly too.

Wish I would have been told this before I went with this service. But every question I asked I was assured it would be sufficient. Guess what? Its not.

Just out of curiosity, were you signed up by one of those sales people on Facebook?

Stephen, I was signed up by the local elite retailer, installer. I was informed that's who I need to contact in my area by one of the mods on this forum. So I went to viasat.com and put in my Zipcode to find a local retailer. Just so happens to be an "elite" retailer which makes it even more interesting.

That's messed up. I guess people will say anything to make a sale.

I love my service from Viasat, but I actually knew it's limitations before I signed up.

Right now, about 3 mbps. I'm good right now. But this past week has been horrible in the evenings. That's not why I chose to have this system installed!

69.9 degrees West longitude is VS-2

I don't follow every post/thread here, but iirc, you have the newest WiFi modem, which is good for VS-2....I assume the newer TRIA unit (outdoor unit) also.

I'd ask for a re-point to VS-2, when all beams are open.  I've posted which ones are open now (cities) several times.

I don't have the newest modem. I've got the excede black one. Not the new triangular one. You have to have the triangular one to be on viasat2. Viasat2 is only available in a very few select places and is not available here. I found this all out after the fact.
