I had great service the 1st month. Consistently 16down 4up. Then, for the past 5 days it has been like this if it would work at all. Yes, I have checked cables, rebooted, restarted, ipconfig release renew. The customer service people I talked to were very nice. I'm at 19 of 40GB right now. I firmly believe this is a punishment for not being politically correct online. You people may reserve the right to tinker with peoples service, but I reserve the right to do a chargeback and stop all future payments. Your move!

Looks like it is working perfect to me. Speeds will always slow down during peak hours. What is it that you can’t do with a 3 mbps connection during peak hours?

Their move would be collections.  That does wonders to your credit.

Speeds are not guaranteed, and all of the tests you ran that have lower speeds are right in the middle of the peak usage hours.  It's congestion.  There's no way to get around it.

muh credit! muh credit! Are you kidding? Viasat gives service to anyone with an address and prepaid visa. I could put it in a kids name. I will get an inheritance in life, so I don't have to worry about credit. Enjoy being a working class screw son.

Explaining the realities of the system, and of satellite internet in general, isn't "telling someone who complains how wrong they are."

I see that Al. In my neck of the woods, that is called "shilling". It is painfully obvious now.

The original poster just showed us there isn't a problem with the service.  Notice the speeds outside of primetime.

Hi James

During our peak hours speeds will drop depending on how busy the network is at the time. This is true for all internet providers but with ours we have a limited amount of bandwidth so traffic affects us a little heavier than say cable or DSL that can easily expand with more cables and trunks (our satellite is in orbit so we can't expand except for launching more satellites).

So what I'm seeing appears normal because the low speeds are in our peak hours (5pm-12am) when we anticipate speed drops but I would be concerned if those 3mbps speeds were going during the day time outside of peak hours. If you feel otherwise  you can call us as it is happening at 855-463-9333 and we can rule out if there's any technical issues

James your post is BS. I got great speeds my first 2 months Whats happening now is Pathetic. I pay for 30mbs and have never got those speeds. 3-5mbs is really pathetic and you guys should never take a contract for a service you cannot provide. I quit hughes net for poor service now it looks promising that I will go back to hughes they are better and faster on ya'lls best day

I have had both Viasat and Hughesnet. Both are about the same. I switched to Viasat because they had better customer service, at least that was the case several years ago.

But I agree. Both services stretch the limit of what they can deliver in the advertising.

Dear James,

viasat is only a last resort for those who cant get cable, dsl, nor fiber internet. if you had those options, you couldve gotten bettef speeds, pings, download speeds, upload speeds, ect ect ect. video games like first person shooters like fortnite, call od duty, ect ect ect has high ping lantency from 500 to 900 ping. on super rare occasions, itll be 1000 ping.

what i suggest is turn into a night owl :3 its more better at night time :3 or daytime when peoples are at work and kiddies witties are at school :3 during national holidays like christmas itll be so slow. cause of all electronics doing updates and game consoles downloading games and updates. it has already started for me. so im planning on playing single player mode until kiddies are in school or almost end of there vacation :3

have you ever put yourself in viasat reps shoes??? of how they handle very rude customers on call and chat??? i always say im sorry at the end of our conversations and i know how it is for you guys even though i dont work. i must praise them for keeping there cool with rude customers :3 also the viasat moderators on here keep there cool on here also :3 IF i could do game reviews for them id do it for free :D buying my own games for game consoles and buying the consoles :3 (that is if i can afford the consoles that is) i would honestly do it for free :3 cause viasat has been good to me so much :3 i kind of want to give back to them now :3 that is what my heart is saying :3 and i think i might end up doing that :3

From Deku

P.S.!!! GO GO VIASAT GO GO VIASAT!!! :3

What’s your point ? The majority of those speed tests are after midnight, which is not prime time.

I see one speed test at 7pm which is 18 mbps and another at 8 pm which is 3 mbps. Once again, perfectly normal to see either speed depending on congestion during prime time.

My service has become WORTHLESS the past 5 days or so.  I was SUPPOSED to receive UNLIMITED DVD quality video --- UNLIMITED.  I hit 60mb, they cap me to, ready for the .25meg.  Yes, 1/4 meg.  I can't even browse websites anymore.

I have had to get the Florida Dept of Consumer Protection involved and the State Attorneys office.  HUNDREDS of people in my area of North Florida bought into this based on UNLIMITED VIDEO STREAMING at whatever resolution your package provided.

IT WAS ALL LIES.  ViaSat, I am coming for you and I am going to use every government agency I can to put a stop to your deceptive advertising.

I have PRINTED material from ViaSat --- UNLIMITED STREAMING VIDEO.  Capping someone so they can not even browse a web page does not = UNLIMITED VIDEO.   Liars

You know, even their "60gb" cap is a lie based on MULTIPLE COMMON materials --- which were 150gb.  I am holding on to the others used for the unlimited streaming promotion but here are some images used over time.  They have been "all over the place."  BTW, you are a stalker.

I have never seen a company, or their minions, try to use a TOS agreement so aggressively to try to justify their poor service and explain it away as being the "customers fault" for not being a lawyer and examining their agreement.

I don't owe these jerks any explanation or proof of anything.  I am upset and MANY MANY people in my area are also upset.  Why are we all upset?  Was it "Group Confusion"?  Why was everyone ALSO buying "Amazon Firesticks" with their new Viasat service in this area?  Oh, I know why, because everyone was excited about being able to stream video out here now.  But it all turned out to be just another example of a wealthy corporate entity taking advantage of rural folk with no intention what-so-ever of providing "stream video".

The funny thing is that even the 150gb allocated "we MAY only slow down past this point" disclosure (which was supposed to be for all OTHER data) has magically become 60gb.   Now, HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?  lol

This company has an element of evil about it.

Ed, all you are doing is making a fool of yourself.  The "proof" you have posted says nothing about unlimited video streaming.  You didn't read your contract and assumed you could stream till the cows come home.  You made a mistake.  Admit it and either work with what you have or terminate your contract.  Don't blame your mistake on everyone else.  I know that's the thing to do in this day and age, but take responsibility for your  "misunderstanding".

Hey stupid, I SAID I DIDN'T COPY THE MATERIALS HERE.  Do you have a reading comprehension problem?

YOU ARE A STALKER with the primary intent of attacking me.  You have gone into every thread where I have posted and have posted to me specifically and don't stop.

YOU ARE HARASSING ME.  DO YOU UNDERSTAND?

I have made my points and you have addressed them.  Anything else at this point from YOU TO ME is intended to be nothing but threatening and using intimidation to get me to stop posting.

STOP HARASSING ME.

You go Ed. I think all I can do to help the cause is to pull up the signs advertising VIASAT in my area. I am pretty sure they have been placed along the road without approval of the property owners. For the record the company placing the signs is Suresite.they are pimping VIACRAP as being slicker than sliced bread here in Central Virginia.

The people making a fool of themselves are the VIASAT homers. The same ones appear in every thread. Since they claim they are not being paid why are they spending their free time pimping VIACRAP? They never seem to answer that question. The only other answer is they own VIACRAP stock.
