Liberty Pass is too slow

Seems that the liberty pass has not worked out. We have noticed that when our data has run out and the liberty pass kicks in that we never see a speed over 0.5. It all worked great the first month or so but now it is as slow as can be... Also with all of our internet options turn to reduce data paying 110.00/month for the liberty 18 and using 70% of that in 3 days is unacceptable.... Will never recomend your service.

Don't expect it to get any better, we've been with them for a year now, worst internet service I have ever had in over 30 years. AOL and windows 3.1 was faster from back in the day.

We have decided to terminate our service after only 8 months. It is worth the $240 penalty to us to change to something that works. The first month, our Liberty 10 was great and lasted about 2.5 weeks. Right now, we have used 51% of our data after 3 days, and speed is at 2 mbps when we are paying for 15 mbps. When we were gone on vacation for 10 days, I didn't turn it off for vacation, but somehow in 8 days we used our entire 10 gb with the house empty and the computer turned off. We get much better results using our phones as hot spots. Very sorry I decided to try this service.

Satellite internet is offered to those of us who have no other options for internet service. It is not capable of providing unlimited data to everyone, and data limits of the satellite cannot be increased once it is launched, but requires the building and launching another satellite. For those heavy users of their satellite internet, you will never be happy with the service you are getting. You are very fortunate if you have other options to get unlimited data at lower costs, and would be best to switch to one of those providers. Most of us do not have any other choice for internet other than the two satellite providers.

Noone wants unlimited, they just want what Exede sells, which is 1-5mpbs after they run out of priority data, I NEVER get 1-5 on Liberty Pass, EVER.

So its plain and simple EXEDE LIES about the actual download speeds after you are on liberty pass.
I was flat out told, after numerous questions about the fact, that i would indeed never see speeds slower than 1-5 mbps.
EXEDE LIES to its customers to get them into a two year contract that you must pay to be released from.
Care to give a explanation exede?
I would have to figure your sales people would know what is going on and deliberately tell the customer these things...I SURE WAS!
Exede, how do you respond to this? I was lied to about the service you provide and i expect results!

Kathy you should either contact customer support using one of the options other than the online community at:

https://www.exede.com/contact-us-exede/

Alternately you can email exedelistens@viasat.com and include you're account and contact information.

There are different charges associated with the new Exede WIFI modem (modem, router and voice adapter combination) and the original Surfbeam 2 modem.

Does the performance of Liberty pass vary depending on location?  I have the 30 GB w/Liberty and even though the net slows way down when we get to Liberty (usually very quickly), I feel like it still works well enough to do what I need to do on the net.

Yes, Liberty Pass performance will vary depending on which spot beam (service area) you are located on.

ViaSat hasn't really gone into any great depth regarding the algorithm used. Anecdotal evidence suggests that once you're in Liberty Pass mode, you're speeds are not only throttled (the 1 - 5 Mbps claim during non-peak hours) but also that your requests are queued at a lower priority than those who have not exceeded their priority data or monthly allowance. As a result, during peak usage or other periods of congestion speeds are perceived as even lower or even unusable - sort of like standing in line and not moving forward because others not under restriction are able to cut in line ahead of you.

You don't - you need either the original Surfbeam 2 or the new Exede WIFI modem. The original modem is simply a modem, while the newer modem combines modem, wireless router, wired router, and voice adapter functionality into a single unit (some find the latter more convenient than having multiple devices.

The only time the new modem is really required is if you sign up for the Boost 25 (originally called Speed Boost) option, which isn't available everywhere.
