Dear friends I'm leaving Exede. Will miss everyone and community but I can get fiber optic internet at reasonable price $60.00 so have ordered it. But have always been happy with Exede. But this is just to good. Take care. Not sure when it will be installed. But probably in next month.

I have been very unhappy with Exede. I go through my data in 7 days and then on Liberty pass the rest of the month. What is this fiber optic internet about?

You will love having fiber optic. I got it about 15 months ago. I get 155 mB up and down for 73/month. I too loved having Exede. It works good for my needs, and I still recommend it to people that have no other choices for Internet.

I live outside of Snow Hill, NC. Your best bet to call the local cable company and see if they offer it or plan to offer it. It is very limited in most areas. We are very lucky to have it in our area.

You're one of the lucky ones. If I could anything else other than satellite internet I'd be gone in an instant.

You're in a small minority if you're perfectly happy with Exede. My 10GB data allowance gets used up in 14 to 20 days every month, even though all we do is read news, send emails, shop on the web and read some Facebook. That's all. No Netflix, YouTube or any other video or audio streaming. It's just outrageous, and I don't trust the accuracy of Exede's data measurement.
I'm in the country and not lucky enough to have fiber or even DSL or I would be off of Exede in a flash. The only other satellite internet service is HughesNet, which is even worse.
However, I am about to switch my ISP to Verizon wireless, using their G4 LTE Wireless Router with Voice. They now have an "Unlimited" data plan that isn't really unlimited, but a lot more generous than Exede, and for only a few bucks a month more than Exede Liberty 10 is costing me.
The Exede Freedom Plan is not available to me, or I would stay. Rumor has it (via Exede phone customer support last December) that when Viasat-2 satellite is launched and online, maybe next fall, that Exede will offer Liberty Plan to all for $100 a month. If it were coming sooner I would probably suffer through another couple of months of crappy Liberty plan. I've been a Viasat customer since they first launched Wildblue. But I think the company is taking advantage of its rural monopoly to rip me off.

Nicholas, you must have some less than ideal settings or something.
I have used 5.9 GB in 31 days.
Read the fine print very carefully on the Verizon plan.

"Read the fine print very carefully on the Verizon plan." Very sound advice. When an internet company tells you "unlimited", there is always the fine print that will tell you otherwise.

Nicholas,
10GB lasts 14 to 20 days and all you do is news, emails, shop and Facebook? I'd be willing to bet that ads on the news and shopping sites are chewing through your data. Perhaps videos automatically playing on those news sites, too. Rarely do I use more than 5GB in a month, and that's with keeping three PCs up to date and doing the same things as you, plus watching some Youtube videos.
