Ripped off again

Just joined this forum and glad to see it isn't completely edited, some bad stuff gets through. Salesman never mention contract which he signed without my knowledge. Hacked install included sawing off a corner of a decorative beam, drilling through my stucco exterior and placing the modem in a room adjacent to my computer and TV dangling from the power cord. When confronted the salesman he says his job is to get the service into the house and I should hire IT to connect. Contacted corporate who pledged the world and then quit answering calls and emails. Not to mention the slowest internet on the planet and the gall to charge $80.00 a month. I had to keep my original ISP just to keep up. Crap company, can't wait to leave. I'll repair the damage myself, just don't want these hacks on my property.

Had a very piss poor ISP I thought traveled at the speed of a freight train, or so I thought. Excede makes my old system seem like a Bullet Train. They claimed they would waive my exit fees but did not put it in writing.(They conned me into a 3 year contract)They put the contract in writing but signed it their with the wrong physical address. Another item they offered to take care of an didn't. Constantly running of high speed (12mbs) which I was told was adequate for 2 people.

"up to" 12mbps was a sales catch a few years ago they boasted that theirs met or beat the 12mbps , which it did until about a year into the contract.now we are stuck with dialup speeds OR IF we are lucky the data does not run out in the 1st few hours after a fresh reset. YOU CAN leave your modem off all month and your data will still be used up by overhead useage. no win no win situation. i am lucky if i ever top 1mbps EVER.

James keeps on  beating that dead horse.  His data is gone in two days yet he is over his 2 year contract and can leave without paying a penny, but still pays them so they can steal all his data.  No one believes you James. Not even little old ladies.

You must have a lot of overhead on your network, as ViaSat isn't doing that.

12Mbps is VERY good speed. Better than I ever see. What is it you cant do with that speed?

There is no such thing as a three year contract. I dont know who you bought the service from, but it doesn't sound like from Viasat directly or a reputable local dealer.

There was a practice years back with cell companies. The third party who sold the service would do a double contract. One for them personally and one for the provider. I doubt this has been done here but there are plenty of reprehensible dealers that viasat lets represent them.

Streaming movies I get an extremely pixelated picture, very seldom a clear and clean picture. Half way through the movie I get the twirlies and sometimes a dropped signal. Rechecking the contract, it is for only 2 years which means I only have 1 year and 3 months of crap TV at $80.00 per month. Plus the expense of repairing my home after removal of their equipment.Thank you for that info.

Just to mention again because I know there are some new readers to this forum, IF you have a good quality 4K tv you will see an immediate increase in pic quality. This is due to the scaling engines these tvs employ. Not all scaling engines are created equal....you usually get what you pay for.
That being said, there are some nights we can watch Netflix or Amazon Prime and the pic quality is near dvd...very acceptable. There are other nights that the pic quality is rather poor. Same internet, same tv, same everything. Why the difference? Who knows.

Andy

Edit: Pic quality is why I've started using PlayOn Cloud. It records the movie in 480p and I download it as an mp4 file. You can then put this file on a thumb drive and plug it into your tv's usb port. If your tv doesn't want to play it, you can always use the usb on your Bluray player.

Wow.  I had never really looked into PlayOn, but for a service like my own, where the majority of my data is available between 2AM and 8AM, this is a great option.  I don't have Netflix right now, but this might the just the thing to push me in that direction.  I do have all of the movie channels through DirecTV, so I have access to HBOGo and the things available through that, and I sometimes utilize that on my laptop and HDMI cable connected TV, but to be able to record things late at night and watch them anytime is a great thing.

Playon can be a little quirky to get it rolling, but once you do, it works. I only use it with Amazon Prime. No complaints, and worth the price. Combine it with a Roku and you can rock and roll with all the video you can grab.

Keith, who informed you about waiving the termination fee? Viasat does not and has never had that policy.  I would like to figure out who is misinforming Viasat customers.  I apologize from the bottom of my heart.  Diana

I commented this morning but it didn't make the forum.

That persons name would be Allysa Martinez. We went back and forth several
times, she offered some free time for the install damage and a reduced
price. When I asked for all her pledges in writing she stopped returning
calls and answering emails. I kept all emails for proof.

Regardless of the slow speeds, your hack team of installers butchered my
house, let equipment dangling by power cords and left me with internet I
could not use because it was not hard wired and I had no instructions.

In addition, there was no mention of a contract when we talked and I found
a forged contract in my email days later with the wrong physical address.

When I reached out to salesman Jerry from Payson, AZ, he claimed all he
needed to do was get the service in the door and that he did not
electronically sign the contract 2 hours after the team had left my house.

This because they take pride in misleading you and then demand a termination fee for not living up to their own hype. Ripped off again and again.

You said to Tim...
Either you're a company stooge or you are one of the very few where this service works.

Now I realize you are only a troll, and I usually wouldn't feed a troll, but there is just something about your post that smacks of an "AI" machine did the talking, not a real human.  Why would I say that?  Because Tim has about the worst, piss-poor service in all of ViaSat, and it's probably never going to improve.  His network priority is set to just about 4" under the door mat.  I think he would debate if his service really qualifies to be called one that works, although I could be wrong on that one.  So for you to call him a company stooge is about like Hillary Clinton claiming Donald Trump is her boyfriend.

So Keith goes to a website where people give reviews on their Viasat service, and starts quoting statistics about the ratings the visitors to that site have posted.

He fails to understand that not every one of Viasat's subscriber have posted on that site, mainly those who are unhappy with Viasat and had to vent on that site. With over 550,000 subscribers, there are a large percentage of those subscribers who have not posted on that site, including me, in fact like me, have never even been to that site.

Postings on sites like that by customers of any product or service are usually done by customers not happy in a much higher percentage than those who are happy with the product or service.

I've never posted to that site and I'm a happy customer.

I read the original posters post again. It sounds like he is on the bronze unlimited plan and is complaining about video quality. The bronze unlimited plan is supposed to have poor video quality. That's the trade-off for such a low price. Nothing to see here, the plan is doing exactly what it is supposed to do.

To clarify, the real complaint the original poster should have is with the installer and dealer who lied to him about the plan. It sounds like they did a horrible installation and lied about what unlimited bronze can do. What the original poster described, is exactly how unlimited bronze is supposed to work.

It's times like this that I wish I had gone for the 25Mbps modem back when I signed up for this Freedom plan.  The saying is true... Hindsight is 20/20.
This is testing from down in Mexico !
