Has anyone had a bill that was through the roof? The most our bill has ever been was 350.00, and now we are being charged as much as 800.00. every time I contact customer service they can not explain where these charges are coming from. I am starting to think they are purposely being added.

No, i have a contract at a specified price and i stay within our allotted data limits.

They should always be able to explain, itemize your charges.

We are on the liberty 50. we use under the amount of data at times, and with the data remaining we still are being charged.

All you need to do is to log into account.viasat.com, and select "view  my  bill". You will see thee itemized bill, with each charge show with the cost.

If you are on a business plan, then your bill will vary depending on how much data you have used during the billing  month.

We have done that numerous times. Still unable to specify where charges are coming from. We are on the liberty 50, not a business plan.

Exactly what Steve said!

Are you on a business plan? If so that might be the answer and you'll need to contact our business support team as the team that moderates this forum only handles Residential services.

If not, Account.viasat.com will have your Itemized bills. We don't charge for data overages (unless on a business plan) and the only way a bill will get that high would be for a early cancellation/equipment return fee and then maybe some chargebacks being re-charged. Older plans have a buy more plan and those can add up A LOT ($10/1GB). So please check out your account there and if you still have questions send an email to viasatlistens@viasat.com

We are on the liberty 50. This has been an ongoing issue for the last 2 months. I always call and see where the charges are coming from. There is no added data, and 800 dollars worth, would seem like no one would need to purchase more, let alone run out. we have a password on the account and there are only 2 people who use the minimal amount of data, and are still being charged 740.00.  On the previous bill there is no added data, trust me we have looked into all assumptions.

The only thing I can think of is if you had buy more added (that's an option on Liberty plans and you can buy more without being anywhere near your limit). Have you ever disputed a charge or moved services? Sometimes a balance can transfer over or if you only paid partial fees that just stacked over time.

At this point we won't be able to help you further unless you either send an email to viasatlistens@viasat.com or call us at 855-463-9333 to look at it because we'll need to look at your bill and account directly.

I would ask if you had an installer come out and Do you have easycare? I had an installer come out 4 times in a month at my moms place. 4th time they finally fixed the issue. We were then billed for each 4 visits. It was a high bill with much bills shock. After a long time on the phone it was fixed. This forum can not help you. Call them. Talk to the billing department. Do not hang up until it's resolved. Ask to speak to a supervisor. Escalate the call. Call back again to make sure the issue was resolved.

Something doesn't make sense here.

My thoughts exactly. I would cancel my service and get a lawyer if that happened to me. I would never blindly pay a bill with mystery charges that high and wait until a $800 bill to complain. Something doesn’t add up.

Marissa should post a copy of her bill, minus her account umber and any other personal information. Something just doesn't make sense. My bill never varies at all, and never has, unless I changed plans, or when the the cost of Easy Care increased several months ago.

Not being trolled here, apparently someone has been accessing our wifi and buying more data from the website......or thats what we are being told, they can't link the charges to a specific number or IP address. We have changed passwords etc, and are getting a new card. If you have any advice please let me know.
happy holidays.

'' the highest our bill have ever been was 350.00''
I shoufd have made it clear that was a specific time that we bought extra data, while running out. also during our usual billing cycle we never go over the 50 gbs that we are given. we never agreed to easy care either, they try and offer it for 8.99 and we always Kindly decline. I have spoken with a rep that said she can't verify the number or where the charges are coming from, but they have been purchased throuhgh the buy more option on the website. all I can get from this is someone has gotten our information and has been buying data at their own risk. we have changed passwords and put a password on the account.

That's the best first thing you can do, other than getting a new card, and it's best to create a password that would be very hard to crack.  Basically, if you can remember it quickly, or really at all, it's too easy of a password.

Never use words or names, nor number combinations that are unique to you.  I don't personally have ViaSat, so I don't know what's permissible, but if you're able to use symbols in the password, I would do so.  My general rule when creating passwords is that they be between 12 and 16 characters, and include upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols, and that those things be in no discernible order.  And never use the same password for more than one site/account.

Don't get me wrong, it can be a pain, but it's well worth the safety.  I have a folder FULL of passwords, as other than the one or two that I on a regular basis, which is pretty much every day, I would never remember them.

Yea. First, they would have to log into your account with a password. But buying more, then they would have to be connected to your wifi to get anything out of it.

Things don't make sense here.

I would suspect someone in the household, or a frequent visitor to the house, be that a friend, relative, household employee, babysitter, dog walker, etc... if in fact the charges are due to buying more data and, you nor anyone you intentionally gave the account password to bought the data.

As much as I hate to say it, it is even possible a spouse or partner in love did it and, is claiming they didn't buy more data. It happens. If this is going on, I can't ignore that along with other possibilities as to who purchased the data.

When I was a kid I managed to ring up $200 in long-distance charges on the phone bill. I didn’t tell mom about it until she got the phone bill and started calling the phone company. Mama wasn’t happy.
