That's great news mferner. Glad everything seems to be working for you. I also have seen the beyond advertised speeds, I even hit about 24 Mb's once on the download. Now just watch your data usage by adding the video blockers and you will be fine.

Thanks for the reply.

Everett I just hit nearly 20 on the download speeds! and I have 28 days left until my data starts over and I have used 0.7 out of 15 GB I will be fine! BUT After 6 months I am just hoping that a 10GB plan will be available in my area because 20GB is too much for me and 5GB Isnt enough!

Yes Everett Im on the evolution plan and counting my modem rental fee and taxes I pay aroud $62 a month and according to the promo that prices is guaranteed for 3 years! so In 6 months If evolution is 10GB instead of 5GB I will stick with that! Because now I get 15GB for 6 months! I dont watch many movies at all I watch a few short you tube clips and once a month I watch 3 hours of live wrestling! Does your classic 10 package for $49 a month include free web browsing? I have 6 months to worry about another plan and hopefully in 6 months they will have a plan that suits my needs which will most likely be 10GB a month! I will kinda have a idea after my first month data plan is over too see how much data I use! right now I have 28 days left and I have used 0.7 of 15gb! Thanks for responding and helping people on here!

Hi Marcus,
The 10 Gig Classic plan does not state it that way, but viewing a webpage is a very, very small blip on the Gig meter.

Be aware of the sites you visit that have YouTube videos embedded on them. They will start loading even before you click the run button. Install FlashBlock in your browser to stop them. Then it just takes a double click to get it running.

Adblock Plus is another good one to use. You would be surprised how many things are sucking you Gig juice on highly active webpages.

One more is AVG PrivacyFix. Ever got to Home Depot and look at a lawn mower? Then go to Amazon and the first thing that pop's up; Lawn Mowers. Big Brother is watching and he works for Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, and so on.

On cable or DSL it would not make a difference. Satellite internet service, it is the automated kiss of death for Gig's.

The 6 months you have will give you time to adjust your surfing habits. And you will become aware of the things to watch out for. In 6 months there could be several new changes. Everyone, including me is asking for a higher Gig cap or unlimited to a point.

If you do run into trouble with your monthly bag of Gig's, email Kimberly at: exedelistens@viasat.com and ask for a few extra gigs to get by. They are FREE at the moment. Not sure how long it will last?

Hope it helps,
Everett

Everett... Well I dont have any problems with videos playing when I go to websites! I have it set up where they only play when I click on them! Exede does have a unlimited data plan in my area and its $99 a month! But I think I will be fine with 15GB But If I run out I will e-mail Kimberly to see If I can get a extra gig to get by! when you run out of data does it slow down web surfing speed? or just speeds on videos?

I have never run out. But some of the other members have and it will slow way down except during the LNFZ (late night free zone).

They do not offer the Freedom unlimited plan (150 gig cap) in my area. If they did I think I would signup of it just so I could do more YouTube and not have to worry about the cap.

I started out years ago with dial-up. There is nothing quite a pleasing as watching a webpage load line by pixel line. But I was connected and the World Wide Web was a baby then.

They will start sending you emails if you get close to being out of Gig's.

I was told that meeting FAP on Exede was a LOT better than Hughes, when you hit their cap (dial-up speeds) What does anyone say here?

Can't help you here. I have never gone over my data limit in all the years I have been with Exede. I am sure others can help you with this.
