Linda, it may be that your 24 month prepay of the equipment lease has expired, and you are  now being charged $10.00 per month for the equipment lease. Another possibility is that you or someone on your account purchased a extra GB of data. You can view your itemized bill in the Exede Dashboard https://my.exede.net

Wait so they prepay 2 years of modem lease, then after that charge you $10/month to lease at least a 2 year old modem?  This mystery service gets better all the time!

With the exception of the new wifi modem there really hasn't been a change in the technology of the modem since we've launched Exede from the old Wildblue product so those modems are still relevant and were designed to handle future product upgrades (speed, ect). Customers are certainly allowed to upgrade to the wifi modem if they choose to.  All modems via Exede are leased as these modems are encoded, built and designed to and only work with Exede. At this time there's not a 3rd party option like you'd see with Cable/DSL providers..which also charges a lease fee. Unfortunately the combined satellite internet customer base is just a drop in the bucket compared to those on DSL/Cable so there hasn't been a huge market for a 3rd party manufacturer.

Hi Justin,  After the two year Pre-Pay for the equipment has been satisfied, the lease fee will be $9.99, month to month until the service is disconnected.

As long as  the equipment is being leased, there will be a lease fee. There will not be an early termination fee if/when the service is terminated.
