Question about updating data plans

FEEL CHEATED!!! AND HAVE BEEN CHEATED I can't believe Exede, changed plan prices and didn't even have the respect or professionalism to advise us of the change. Simply, we have been paying $65 for a Liberty 10 Plan, yet they have the Liberty 12 plan for $50. I am paying $15 more per month, and receive less data. So, after a really unhappy conversation with customer rep CESAR, it seems to be a caveat emptor situation. Or basically, if I am SO STUPID to trust Exede with its billing, I need to chase it down if there are changes. Now, there is such a lack of trust in this contract - I can not wait until the two years are up to cancel.
Exede - you suck. Big time.

wildblue/exede/viasat all the same scam , just because they change names for a tax break does not mean anything else changes.

What would you know about their taxes?

You say they are a scam?  Prove it.  In this country the burden of proof is on the accuser, so get to the proof.  Also in this country a company can sue an individual for libel or slander, Viasat's proof is here in your post as well as your date/time/IP stamp associated with your rant in their system logs.

Are you even a subscriber?

If you feel Viasat is an unethical company, why do you financially support them, if you are indeed a subscriber?

Waiting to see that proof.

Here is James' rock solid proof....

"I know an elderly lady rite now that has plenty of proof. her modem has been unplugged for 6months and when it is checked from the dashboard every month the data is still being used. more people have solid proof than you might think. and her installer is also helping her prove this and the modem is in custodey of the local fbi so that there is no way it can be being used at her residence .and yes they check her dashboard also and see her data has been gone every month even while they had the modem at the local office."

I just love revisiting his post!

Viasat tries to give us credit for having a few brains in our head and, not needing to be spoon fed. We can see what plans are available any time we want by simply logging in to our account management page and clicking change plans.

I'm sorry that you'd rather be spoon fed but, personally, I appreciate being treated like an intelligent, thinking, reading human being, which Viasat does well for the most part. I'm not so helpless that I need twenty thousand emails form my ISP to remind me to use the tools they provide for me. i would think that's better than shoving marketing crap down our inboxes every day.

Look stupid, now you're starting to tick me off.
Your gripe has an analogy:

You're driving down the road with your eyes closed and here comes a curve in the road, of course you drive ahead right through it and crash. Now you're mad because nobody told you a curve was coming.

Sometimes you need to look around a bit and don't expect everyone else to live your life for you.  Babies need to be spoon fed, only because they can't do it for themselves but eventually, they learn.  You, maybe not.

Well that was nice of you.  I do hope you told them to sign up with one of the new plans as the older one's just really weren't all that good.

Do make sure to tell them Exede is no longer in business.  Now the service is delivered entirely by Viasat.

As unfair as it seems, this happens everywhere! The landline telephone company, the cellphone company, probably even cable and satellite tv, etc. It's up to the customer to check on current prices and change plans to get the updated prices. Sorry it works this way, I, too, have paid too much for months because I was unaware that a better yet cheaper plan was newly available on things such as my cellphone service. It's just the way it works.

By the way, I feel grateful for the upgrades Exede/Viasat has lately offered. I used to have to really watch our usage but took it upon myself to check on current plans and found a soooo much better one for only a little more money. Happy Camper here now!

Companies change prices all the time.  The price when you signed the contract is the price you have and agreed to.  It's up to the consumer to check prices.

I just bought a new TV for $300 two weeks ago.  Last week it was $280.  Such is life.

While Exede Viasat does suck, it's better than it's competition. It's not competing with wireline providers. it's competing with other last mile providers. You are not being cheated. This practice is done by everyone from cellphone providers to TV providers. They also don't contact you when there's a new package with more product for less price.
