I assume you are talking about the property tax recovery fee. That's what your state and county charges Viasat for the dish located on your property. Viasat then passes that tax on to you - AFTER THEY PAY IT.

At least with ViaSat it's only a few dollar once a year.  DirecTV collects several dollars every month on behalf of the state.

No, the owner of the item gets charged the taxes for whatever is on your property. My step son has a truck he owns parked here, he gets the property tax bill for it even though I told him he could park it here. The company we are renting the storage shed form gets the property tax bill for it, and passes that charge on to us since we are using the building even though they own it. Same for Viasat, they own the dish so, get the bill but, pass it to  me since I am the one benefiting form their dish being on my property.

The owner gets the tax bill but, most companies pass that to the property holders who are benefiting form their property being at the location, that's normal.

LOL, sounds like paying taxes for what you own, and then charging whomever is using it for the taxes. That's just business. Why should I or anyone not pass taxes they are charged on something I, not they are using.

I'd happily pay your vehicle taxes IF I were using your vehicle but, I'm not. And actually 30 would be very costly here, taxes for all three vehicles here are only 27.00 per year, only 2.68 of that is for my step son's truck, the rest are for my car and my partner's semi.

Hello Anthony, could you verify what fee it is that you see on your invoice so we can better answer your question and provide assistance.

Annual Property Tax Recovery Fee

If you’ve received an Annual Property Tax Recovery Fee this would be a fee ViaSat collects in order to recover the costs associate with paying for property taxes on the equipment installed at the customer's home (modem, tria, antennae). The charges vary from county to county.

The charge will be displayed as a one-time charge located under the "Fees" section of your bill. It will be listed as "Annual Property Tax Recovery Fees". NOTE: In MyExede, the charge will be displayed under the Taxes, Surcharges & Fees section.

The property tax Recovery Fee varies county to county, state to state and the amount may be based on the city where you have our service. It may also be based on the cost and age of your equipment and the state in which you live. The average charge is $3.00-$4.00; however, some can go as high as $9.00 - $10.00 (or higher) in those states with higher tax rates.

i don't care if is the state or whomever! it is not right having to spend money for nothing at all !!
