Problem with email

I am puzzled about a problem with one of my e-mail contacts.

I get regular e-mails from
I can't send a message to this e-mail address. I get a "could not be delivered" error message
even if I reply to an e-mail that I received from this address.

How can that be?

Zarah M. Abbott

I send this e-mail to the German Postmaster and received the following reply:

If an IP address is suspended for email delivery our mail server respond
on connect with the following error message:

   554 IP=$SENDER-IP - A problem occurred. (Ask your postmaster
for help or to contact to clarify.) (BL)

You will find the real IP address of the blocked host instead of the
placeholder $SENDER-IP, of course.

As the sender of the original email and the recipient of the bounce mail
(non delivery report) you are addressed in the error message, too. But
the message told you to contact your own postmaster (*) who then need to
contact us for clarification of this problem. The email address given in
the error message is reachable even through a system which is blocked at
our site.

(*) You should reach the postmaster account in the domain of the server
which had sent the bounce mail to you. Failing that, please contact
    your IT Helpdesk.

We do not want to be too ceremonious but we need to discuss this problem
directly with a person responsible for the listed mail host. Thank you
for your appreciation!

Kind regards

Zarah, you need to contact the email address given to get the information on what host is blocked. If it is Exede/WildBlue, then you will have to contact support and, possibly whatever list has blacklisted your email address to get that corrected.

See the following possibly related thread - the Zimbra servers which host Exede/Wildblue email are showing up on a number of blacklists. As a result any email (i.e. having a Wildblue/Exede origin) sent to servers that utilize those blacklists may be blocked.

Since it's likely the email server being blocked, ViaSat and/ot Syncor will need to address it.
