Having several different problems setting up IMAP with the new mail platform, across several devices: an old PC running Windows XP and Thunderbird, a Samsung Galaxy S5 running Gmail and Samsung email apps, and a new laptop running Windows 8 and the Windows email app.
I am following the instructions for setup exactly as outlined on the Exede website. None of these platforms will allow me to use port 587 for outgoing mail. Depending on the device/client, either nothing happens (no mail transferred) or I get an error message (can't connect securely, ect.)
If I use port 465, I can send and receive mail. But I'm having several other problems that may be related to that. Mail that I delete is downloaded over and over again, because apparently it's not getting deleted on the server. Mail from years and years ago is downloaded over and over again as "new" mail. And sync between the server and my various devices seems to be completely random, ie. it will sync some messages immediately and others will never be synced.
I've given up on customer service as they generally seem to know less than I do (half a dozen chats with a couple different representatives and a phone call with another). They keep wanting to walk me step-by-step through things that I have already tried and know do not fix the problem.
I hope this problem is temporary, or I'm going to have to switch to a new email address, which would be a huge pain.
